Toure is usually fairly sound as a bit part player, and I think you see the same sort of return in Lucas and Allen. It's when managers get conned into playing them in a run of games that the inevitable happens. I think that's what's so fucking frustrating about those two, because they can go from performances like that where they show real fighting spirit & quality for the team, and then they return in the next game and look like a pair of amateurs. Does my head in.

Why does it do your head in? The reason for it is not the lazy old trope 'inconsistent'. Players who can't produce good performances regularly aren't inconsistent, they're just not very good.

Every player can smack one in from 30 yards, or have a streak of goals, or dominate a supposedly superior midfield or attack in the occasional game. It's what they produce over a period of years that makes a good player good.

Allen and Lucas aren't good players. Toure isn't any more either. So none of them can be relied upon, because their actual level is far below the occasional spike in performance.

Stoke can't do it on a cold wet night in Stoke.

Good win. I thought Lucas, Allen and Can were very good.

I didn't get to read the thread but are we giving Allen the benefit of the doubt with that assist to Ibe?

I believe Brendan may have covered this.

Mignolet needs telling not to time waste, because he couldn't do it more blatantly if he was wearing a sandwich board emblazoned with the words 'OI, REF, I'M TIME WASTING!' He'll be sent off one of these times if he keeps it up, because a yellow card is pretty much inevitable once he gets started, and yet still he plods on with it. It's embarrassing.

Hahaha. He's certainly not cut out for skullduggery.

You are right Macca it is embarrassing firstly, as you say, he's so fucking obvious, and secondly that we actually need to cheat.
