Downing can fuck off. He was one of the worst transfers in the history of football. He's also got one of the most slappable faces in the history of Middlesbrough.
If we can't offload him without recouping a decent amount of money I'd rather see Rodgers trying to get the best out of him.

Most Swansea players were young and improving anyway. Downing isn't. Our best case scenario when getting rid now is his transfer fee covering what we have to make up in wages. So all he will have cost us is 24m for one awful season.

Under King Kenny a lot of our potential silk purses played like sow's ears. Everyone starts with a clean slate under BR and I reckon if Downing survives the summer cull he'll perform much better this coming season. Having said that, he will never be worth what we paid for him but he's got enough potential to become a decent squad player.
Downing was bought for his "proven" talent not potential. His inflated price tag proved that.
He should be delivering top notch performances instead of the tepid shit he dished out.

True, but I reckon his true value is about £8m/£10 and would rather keep him than sell him for £5m/£6m. If someone offered £10m then it's a no-brainer.....SELL!

Even if Downing was any use, i can't see him fitting into Rodger's 4-3-3 formation. Only place for him is wide left(or even right) in a 4-4-2.
