Stewart Downing

Can only be a good thing i think.

Downing had an awful year:
Couldn't beat a man
Couldn't pass
Couldn't get an assist
Couldn't score

All the attributes needed to get in the England squad.

Why is it, everyone else seems to just sell players, but since the whole Aquilani farce, every time we fuck up a transfer, the solution seems to be for us to loan the player out for a season, allowing their value (and age) to dwindle further, until we're in exactly the same predicament 12 months later with even less chance of getting any money.

We spent £55m on Downing and Carroll, should we FUCK give anyone a free ride or take even more of a sting than we already have.

"looking to possibly loan him out"..... lol there's less conviction in it than a stewart downing dribble

Mere détails. Either way I thought loans were about getting experience for young whipper snappers. Not for papering over glaring mistakes. If they don't want him, fuck him off, properly.

(cut to training)
Downing: I was looking to possibly see if I could get a little bit closer to what appeared to me to be the the penalty area.
Rodgers: You fucking cunt. No wonder you got battered by your ex-girlfriend.

I think it'll be hard to find someone who has valid reasons for keeping him or use him in the first-team. Obviously, he couldn't do any worse than last year so inevitably he'll be better this time round, but it's no coincidence that his best performances were against Championship sides in Brighton and Cardiff. I would like Bellamy and Sterling to alternate that left-forward berth but with Bellamy looking ever so likely to be on his way out i think we might have to delve into the transfer market again.

And the prices we paid for a lot of them as well.

Downing - £20 mill
Adam - £8 mill
Carroll £35 mill
Henderson - £20 mill
Aquilani - £20 mill
Keane - £20 mill

That's some seriously grim reading.

Riera was ok for a season, but even he cost £9m, then there was that dodgy Brazilian keeper for £3m, Konchesky, Poulsen, etc.....

Grim.

Pacheco will play there in the pre-season games. If he does well Rodgers is better off waiting rather than taking a chance on some bargain player and being professionally humiliated by him.

Pacheco is an interesting one, i like(d) him but you have to question why he hasn't been able to show these clubs that he's been on loan to what he can do and why they didn't recruit him permanently? They loan him, give him 10 minutes here and 5 minutes there without really giving him a lot of game time, which is what he could have been doing here tbh. Rodgers will like that he was schooled and developed the Barca way though.

I don't know who on here has been the tactical analysis about Rogers formation, but those how have know he likes to play a 4-3-3, but the full backs when attacking.act more like wingers. Do you think Downing could work in that role? Probably not he's a fucking clown, but I thought id ask none the less.

I dont think Henderson deserves to on that list. Young player that will thrive in Rodgers set up.
13 mill we paid for him could be decent business in the end.

The rest is grim. Really grim. So much money that could have won us a title if it was spent more wisely.

Because when we buy players we give them wages that about 20 other clubs in the world can afford to pay. The problem is we sign players that none of those other 20 clubs would take a second look at.

Which means when we're trying to sell them, nobody can afford their wages. So we can't sell them unless we're willing to make up the difference between what the new club are offering and the contract they're currently on.

I agree, but it really says something when Jordan fucking Henderson is the bright point in £100m+ of spending. So he's young and has potential to be not so shit in years to come. Whoopee-do.

Citing the fee at £13m strikes me as pretty optimistic, too. Even if that was the initial obligation, I bet it won't take much for it to climb to the more accepted £16m.

I agree mate. It really puts these signings in an awful light. But hopefully Henderson can blossom in the coming seasons. I think there is a player, and Rodgers seem to rate him.

If the 3 mill add ons are dependent on Success in the league, we're safe for a while yet. 😉

Does anyone actually like downing ? Does anyone think he could have a decent season coming ?

There's just something about him , well apart from being shit , that i can't stand . He seems a right smarmy fuck who thinks that what he's doing is good enough . Then again maybe you can't blame him when he gets his game and is even picked for england .

anyway , just sell the fuck .

can't stand him with a passion. biggest mistake kenny did was sign him. but to sign him for 20m is a complete joke. he's such an awful footballer.

If SD is bad, that makes England bad and do not deserve the top 10 status in FIFA!?
