* Arsenal have won six of their last seven games in all competitions since losing 4-3 at Blackburn last month.

* Blackburn have won just five of 30 Premier League games with Steve Kean as manager.

* Bolton have lost 12 of their last 14 Premier League games.

* Chelsea have gone eight PL games without a clean sheet - their worst run since 2003.

* Stewart Downing had six shots v the Canaries and failed to hit the target once.

* Liverpool would be in second place if they had not thrown away six points from winning positions this season.

* Newcastle have remained unbeaten for 12 PL games for the first time since 1997.

* Stoke have won only ten away games in 62 attempts in the Premier League.

* Sunderland have conceded the same number of goals as Liverpool and Chelsea this season.

* Tottenham's 16 points from eight games echoes the 2009/10 season which ended with Spurs in fourth place.

* West Brom have the same away record (seven points from five games) as Chelsea this season.

* Wigan have lost six consecutive Premier League games for the first time since Sept/Oct/Nov 2007 when Chris Hutchings lost his job.

* If games ended after 45 minutes, Wolves would be rock bottom of the Premier League.

31% - Javier Hernandez has the best chance conversion rate in the Premier League since his arrival

Luis Suarez has hit the target with 50% of his shots & scored with 10% since arriving at Liverpool.

Liverpool have hit the woodwork nine times in the Premier League this season, more than any other team.

Yohan Cabaye is unbeaten in his last 25 competitive games (with Lille, Newcastle & France).

We seem to be consistently top of the woodwork hitting charts, or whatever you would call it. Coincidence surely?

That first post of yours, Binny, is pretty damning, however.

That stat about hitting the woodwork does at least show we're creating chances, and there's got to be more we can do to improve our conversion rate. I'd be more worried if we were having fewer attempts on goal in the first place.

Exactly.

Whether we're being unlucky or we're really bad at finishing is what we need to find out. If over time our chance conversion rate becomes league average things become a lot better for us.

What gives me some hope is that even when United were going well it was noted they were giving up a lot of shots to teams, more so than anyone else in the league. They were getting away with it for a while, but it certainly caught up with them recently. I think the reverse should happen to us.

The problem is that it's not completely random, we're missing more chances because we don't have really great finishers, that's not going to change.

Downing v Young is quite interesting.
He has no assists compared to Youngs 5 but has better crossing and creation stats.
It says to me he is as good as Young, but no one is getting it in the net for him.....but we knew that already.

regards

A completed cross is not always of the same quality though. Young could well be creating chances that are easier to score.

Not sure if that's true or not, just pointing it out.

In the 2-1 victory against Stoke yesterday:

- Liverpool come from behind to win a game for the first time in Kenny's 2nd reign as manager.

- They finally won at the Britannia where they hadn’t won in their previous four attempts (2 draws, 2 losses – last win 8-0 in 00/01).

- Luis Suarez scored 2 goals in one game for the first time for Liverpool FC.

Luis Suarez has been caught offside (16) more often than any other Premier League player this season.

All of Suarez's goals have come whilst Carroll is on the pitch apart from the Arsenal game.

Jose Enrique has shielded the ball out of play to safety more often than any other Premier League player.

no way! really?!

All four of the goals Liverpool have netted away from home in the Premier League this season have been scored in the final 20 minutes of games.

Liverpool have only kept two clean sheets in their last 12 Premier League matches.

This is Spurs' joint-best start to a PL season in terms of points (16 from eight games).

Tottenham have taken 16 points from the last 18 available, their best run of form since January 2005.

Newcastle are unbeaten in 12 consecutive Premier games for the first time since August 1997 (W6 D6).

POINTS LOST FROM WINNING POSITIONS

* 16. Blackburn -5

* 20. Villa - 7

John Aldridge, a former team-mate of Dalglish, converted 63 chances in 104 Liverpool appearances between 1987 and 1989.

"It has cost us," he told BBC Sport of the Reds' current run of wastefulness.

"At least the creativity has been there to create chances, but we need to be leaner and meaner in front of goal.

"The trouble is that if you are missing you can find yourself snatching at chances."

Excellent stats there. Thanks as always Binny.

The Suarez/Carroll thing is surprising but we shouldn't get carried away, it is only 4 goals after all. Though maybe there is an element of truth in what some posters were saying about Carroll creating more space for Luis to work in - I'm not so sure that is the reason for the above stat though - he has still had some wonderful opportunities when Carroll has not been on the pitch but just failed to take them.

As for our poor conversion rate .. well it's getting worse not better, from a few matches ago, then we were mid-table now we are near the bottom.

Robin van Persie has scored 28 goals in 27 Premier League appearances in 2011.

Chelsea have conceded five goals at home in the league for the first time since December 1989 (2-5 vs Liverpool).

Hmm I'd take that in the LC too.

So binny....are you going to participate in the unofficial cup competition on xperteleven or not? If you did, it's going to be a Singapore derby on the finals....i can tell you that much.

Suarez & Carroll partnership has brought 8 goals in 10 games

Both Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel reached 100 games each for Liverpool Football Club against West Brom.

Didn't realise Skittles did too, only Agger got a mention on the offal

And Skrtel joined the club 2 yrs later. (both in January) :-[

Yeah but like Dan says on the Offal, 'lets hope all these unlucky injuries have passed now'
Indeed. Anyone still remember this?

"Between minute 69 against Blackpool and when his season was ended in April against WBA, Liverpool went 631 minutes + stoppage time without conceding with Daniel Agger on the pitch (10 1/2 hours)."

Yesterday's was one of our only 3 clean sheets this season, with two others coming against Arsenal and Everton. Agger was involved in 2 - Arsenal and WBA matches.

Football finance expert, Professor Chris Brady, of the BPP Business School, said: ‘The disparity between the haves and have-nots in football has rapidly escalated and will only continue to magnify in the future.

‘The money coming in has changed the landscape dramatically over the last 20 years. It is bad for the game as we knew it, but maybe good for the game of the future.

‘Football as a sport will go on and get bigger - it is, after all, the only truly global game - and, as a result, top players will continue to enjoy the financial rewards.’

After yesterday's game:

Liverpool have hit the woodwork 10 times in the Premier League this season, four more than any other side.
Prior to yesterday's games:

"14 of the 20 teams have hit the woodwork on three occasions or fewer - which is as many times as the Reds struck the woodwork in Saturday's game with Norwich alone."

Most woodwork hits in the Premier League 2011/12

NINE: Liverpool
SIX: Man City
FIVE: Fulham
FOUR: Blackburn, QPR, Stoke, Wigan
THREE: Chelsea, Everton, Man Utd, Newcastle, Norwich, Sunderland, Swansea, Wolves
TWO: Arsenal, Bolton, Tottenham, West Brom
ONE: Aston Villa

Gervinho has delivered his fifth assist in his last four games for Arsenal.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has scored 21 goals in 19 games in all comps. for Schalke 04 this season.

7 - Di María has made the most assists in LigaBBVA this season (Messi 5, Ronaldo 5).

40 grand a year for a League 2 player is still a damn good wage from where I'm sat. Not so much "have-nots" as "have less than the best".

Liverpool at this stage of the season (a quarter gone) vs EPL history

14 of 20 seasons have seen LFC with a points total between 14 and 20.

Only season over 24pts is 08/09 with 26 (8 wins 2 draws).

Bottom 3 seasons are Souness (twice) and Hodgson. This season has been just above average.

Kenny's 10 game total of 18pts and 5 wins puts him joint 8th alongside Benitez in 09/10 and Houllier in 2000/01.

LFC now have 10 more points than the corresponding fixtures last season.
