No player has scored more goals from outside the area in the top five European Leagues this season than Gareth Bale (six - level with Lionel Messi).

Juan Mata is the only Premier League player to have reach double figures for goals (10) and assists (10) this season.

Newcastle United have already used 31 players in the Premier League this season; more than any other side.

If only the second half of Premier League games counted this season, Arsenal would be top of the league by four points. If games ended at half-time, they'd be 12th in the table.

Arsenal have conceded only two goals after the 75th minute of Premier League games this season; a league-low.

The Gunners have won 36% of Premier League games this season without Jack Wilshere in the side, compared to 56% with him.

On average, Manchester United score their first goal of the game after 26 minutes - earlier than any other side in the Premier League this season.

This season, goals have come at a rate not matched for almost 20 years. With eight games left of the league campaign, Liverpool's goal return is ahead of their tally in any season since 1995-6.

They are the second top scorers in the Premier League - the 57 goals they have scored in 30 games more than they amassed in 38 matches last season, eight more than they had scored at the same point in 2008-9 season when the club finished second to Manchester United.

Luis Suarez has been a vital part of that success, improving his chance conversion by 9% and almost doubling his goal return from 12 to 22. But 13 other players have also chipped in with goals.

The presence of fit-again Lucas Leiva has been a key factor. Liverpool's scoring rate has doubled since he returned from injury to the side in December, his presence helping to free the likes of Steven Gerrard - who has scored seven goals in those 14 games.

I'm sure it's helped, but adding Sturridge and Coutinho have also helped, probably more so.

I'd go along with that, I think its been the combination of a few factors including the simplicity of just improving with time under a new manager in combination with more senior players starting i.e. Suso, Wisdom, Shelvey and Sterling haven't figured as much with Downing stepping up his game and the addition of Sturridge.

Just when you thought Lionel Messi had broken every scoring record going, the diminutive forward is on the verge of another.

Not content with scoring 91 goals in 2012 — a world record — and getting within two of Maradona’s Argentina total after scoring another international goal last Saturday, Messi has a new La Liga target in his sights.

If he scores this weekend, the 25-year-old will become the first footballer in history to net in consecutive matches against every team in the league.

He has scored 29 goals in his last 18 La Liga games and, if he puts one past Celta Vigo on Saturday, he will have scored against every opponent in a row.

The stars of the Premier League are TERRIBLE at taking corners.

Chelsea are the worst and Arsenal and Manchester United are also poor - and among the players who have the worst individual records are Robin van Persie, Santi Cazorla, Juan Mata and Ian Harte.

Remarkably, Aston Villa and QPR - two relegation contenders - have the best accuracy record for finding a team mate in the box from a corner. Wigan with 107 have the lowest number of corners into the box, followed by Norwich on 108 and QPR on 109.

Occasional takers Eden Hazard and Theo Walcott have the worst records in the league for accuracy, with Hazard - Chelsea's brilliant attacking midfielder - finding a team-mate with only 14 per cent of corners sent into the box!

It makes us all long for the 'old corner kick' routine between Teddy Sheringham and Darren Anderton for Tottenham. Anderton would clip the ball into the near post where Sheringham would dart towards the ball and into space, before directing a volley past the goalkeeper.

More recently we've had the amazing Serbian triple dummy corner kick routine... watch the video if that's news to you... and even if it's not, watch the video again anyway because it's something quite brilliant (why don't England ever do anything like that?).

But have you ever found yourself at a game when your team wins a corner, the noise level increases with the anticipation of an opportunity to score... and then the delivery doesn't even beat the first man.

How annoying, frustrating, infuriating... 'all that money, all that time on the training field, and they can't even get the ball into the box!'

How many corners are wasted? Well we've been researching it with our friends from Opta and the results are quite ridiculous.
Remember, this is the Barclays Premier League, with some of the highest paid superstars in world football, but the results for many clubs is Sunday league Dog and Duck.

Have a look at the list and see how your Premier League team fares. Then join us with pleading for them to spend more time on the training pitch learning how to bend it like Beckham.

Gerrard has played every single minute (2700) of Liverpool's Premier League season so far - Matt Lowton (Aston Villa) and Leighton Baines (Everton) are the only other outfield players to have achieved this in 2012-13.

Luis Suárez has embarked on 249 dribbles in the Premier League this season; 105 more than any other player.

No side has drawn more games 0-0 in the Premier League in 2012-13 than Norwich City (6).

Andy Carroll has scored just nine goals in 60 Premier League appearances since leaving Newcastle United in January 2011. He had netted more for Newcastle (11) in his 19 appearances for them in the first half of the 2010-11 season.

Everton have used fewer players than any other Premier League team this season (23).

Manchester United are the first team in English top-flight history to win 25 of their first 30 league games of a season.

Of the lot, the most wins in the first full season is by Houllier, with 19, followed by Benitez with 17. However, Houllier, like Kenny, he already had a half-season in sole charge, and unlike Kenny, he was already co-managing in the other half.

We never finished with fewer than 18 wins under Evans (the joint-management season aside, when we finished with 15 wins).
Houllier's first full season in charge ended with 19 wins, but his final season ended with 16. The seasons in-between, like Evans' reign, never dipped below 18 wins.
Benitez's first season ended with 17 wins, and his final season ended with 18; we never won fewer than 20 games for the seasons in-between.

After yesterday's victory, we've now scored 59 goals in 31 games. What this represents:

- Equals the highest no. of goals scored after Benitez's final season (59, under Hodgson+Kenny); we scored 61 goals in Benitez's final season and we should surpass that barring any mishaps.

- More goals than we've scored in each of Benitez's seasons here before the arrival of Torres

With 7 games left, if we can keep up our current scoring average (59 goals in 31 games = 1.90 goals per game), we could end up with 72 goals. That would be only the 4th time we'd have scored 70 or more league goals since the start of the Premier League. Each time we've done that, we've finished in the top 3:
- 95/96: 70 goals, 3rd (Evans)
- 00/01: 71 goals; 3rd (Houllier)
- 08/09: 77 goals; 2nd (Benitez)

Of course, the caveat is - we never let in 40 or more goals in each of those 3 seasons (we conceded 34, 39 and 27 goals in those 3 seasons above). We've already let in 40 goals up to this stage.
