So who do we want/expect/hope?

I suppose they see him working better within their new structure. I've always said KK should never have been fired.

I could see Rodgers working within that structure but surely Martinez isn't suited to giving up so much power and responsibility. Having so much control seems an essential part of his outlook.

That's fine but was it not Bruce who picked up those players for buttons in the first place? And what outstanding players (for Wigan) has Martinez picked up ? I'm far from convinced on Martinez. I'll support him if he comes but at the moment I don't want him
McCarthy, Di Santo and Moses have all been great for the peanuts paid for them.
Im just saying you cant relate the job Bruce did with the job Martinez did.
I think he has done a good job. But it isnt relevant as the job here is totally different.

His name doesnt inspire me AT ALL. But then ANY manager is a gamble and personally I dont really think Klopp or whoever is a safer bet. The only safe bet as far as I can see is Benitez and anyone else is a risk. So id rather have a manager i like, who plays good football and carries himself the right way than some Euro bellend who might not adapt at all. Being a premier league manager for 3 years is a good education. Managing Seville or whoever is not in my eyes. Look at that guy Spurs had, one of the most respected managers in Spain and he was a fucking disaster. Harry who got Southampton and portsmouth relegated and probably West ham at some point too has them in the champions league.
I just think its a risk regardless so go with a good guy and support him.

Jacques Santini too. He led Lyon to their 1st ever French championship title. Replaced at Tottenham by Martin Jol, whose previous managerial experience came at RKC Waalwijk and Roda JC.

There's also the likes of Paul Le Guen (3 consecutive league titles with Lyon) at Rangers.

If we are going for non proven like Martinez and Rogers, I'd prefer Lamberth.

Ideally though it wouldn't be between them, Rafa and Klopp would be my number one choices with AVB in third.

After that I'd go and this will be controversial - Martin O Neill ahead of the 3 untested guys, he''s won titles with Celtic, had teams overperform in Leicester, Wickham and Villa and turned Sunderland around near overnight. He's never been sacked and never truely failed at any club. I don't understand why big clubs overlook him time and again.

I honestly dont get why you would go with a Rogers or Lambert over Martinez?
Wigan are the smallest club in the division and yet he keeps them in the league every year.
Rogers and Lambert are a long line of managers who have got a club up and spent a season in te premier league. McCarthy, Jewell, Burley etc have all done that, or even Holloway or Coyle?
Martinez hasnt had a team come up and on a wave stay up, he has kept a shit team up for 3 seasons. That in itself is a great job. Wether that means he would be good here is a different question of course, but vs Lambert and Rogers he has CERTAINLY done more to get a move to a bigger club for me.
Lets see where Swansea and Norwich finish next season when the bigger clubs have picked Holt, Dyer, Vorm et all off them! Lets see how they spend the 4m budget they get and how they adapt to having different personell every season!

I'm with Oncey, I don't get how Lambert and Rodgers are seen as so much better options than Martinez, they are all risks, they are all relatively inexperienced, but someone has to give them their chance or that's all they stay.
Any fucking manager is a risk we know that all too well.
For what it's worth I still think we will see Van Gaal , mentoring and overseeing a young and relatively inexperienced manager, that could well be Martinez , it's different and I like the idea.

If the dof will be buying players and deciding the formation and football philosophy then perhaps we only need Clarke to sit in the dugout. Particularly if we get someone as dominant as Van Gaal, I can't see there being enough work to go around to justify paying one of these managers being bandied by the media plus compensation to their current club.

I'm convinced we'll go for Rodgers.

Same here. Whelan said that Martinez is the kind of guy that thrives on taking control of the entire structure of a club and unless Martinez is up for changing I don't think he'll be suited at all to FSG's favoured model. Whereas Rodgers is one of the most European-influenced managers born domestically as he's been over to Spain and Italy specifically to gain knowledge and learn their methods of playing as reflected in his Swansea side, so he'll understand the DoF role more and IMO he'd be up for the challenge of working alongside a DoF.

But let's be clear: there are plenty of managers whose style is more suited to LFC than Hodgson's. And quite a few of them have already won things, are big names and can attract very good players.
Name a few that's available?

Does anyone know why there's no news about FSG going for Lambert??

He seems to fit in the same bracket as RM and BR. Young, attacking and brought Norwich up twice. Yet there isn't any talk about him. Is he available? Would it be impossible to pry him from Norwich?

I don't care at this point.

None of the candidates are particularly exciting and all represent a risk.

I just hope we appoint someone soon so we can start buying (and selling) players.

I wouldn't insult your ability to remember, think and/or google.
Hahaha great reposte but your negativity is not just surprising, its wearing thin. You should havea few doubles to mellow out.

Nobody has been appointed yet but everybody is being written off without even getting a chance to give it a right go. I'm as tired as the next fan of our decent into mediocrity. Support the club if not the man. Still if Martinez is appointed, I bet we'll have a much improved season. It couldn't get worse and no I'm not tempting the soccer Gods.

Lads. These odds mean nothing.
A twitter rumour starts (by a bookie probs) and a bunch of mongs bet on it.
Then the odds drop.
And the masses be like 'WOOOAAAAH THIS SHIT IS REAL' and the bookies be all like 'LOL'
