According to Whelan, Martinez has been offered the job but there's more talks to come early next week.
It's looking increasingly likely it's gonna be Martinez.

So what you're saying is Local throws a hissy fit when he doesn't get his way managerial wise? If he doesn't want to support us anymore that's fine, that's his choice. I'm not going to knock him for it but I can't fathom how you can switch off allegiance.

I was excited at first but to be honest, I'm not sure where I stand with regards to Martinez managing us.
Maybe I'm not alone here but Rodgers, Lambert, Villas Boas and Martinez make me nervous.
I'd like a no-nonsense manager to come in during the first day of training and go:
- You, you, you and you go tell your agents to find you a new club because there's no future for you here.
Later on give the DOF a list of players he should get.
That is something I'd like to believe Van Gaal or Mourinho, Guardiola etc would do.
Screw trying to improve some of our mediocre senior players or get them to function in his footballing philosophy. Just scorch the fucking earth and regrow.

I'm sure he didn't mean it as it's been interpreted and just wanted to exaggerate his point. It's not the first time i've seen a comment like that on here. Albeit, it's usually uttered during last years Matchday threads.
He wanted Hodgson sacked before he'd led us out. Now he's not going to support us if Martinez is appointed.

But these both look like awfully poor appointments..
I've been slagged off for being a fair weather fan and people are saying what about YNWA and we should get behind the manager which is why we are usually a bit better than other supporters, but does it really serve us well? Even when we know this is a flawed appointment.
I've two kids, run my own business, and honestly, I just don't want the continual disappointment. I watch our Club for what it represents, and for the escape. I don't watch it see a bunch of people from newton, ma, and L4 try to learn on the job, what we already know from years of watching.
Look I'm all for an up and comer, a young manager, but give us one that has won something, or has some panache, and is a winner. RM is nothing but a young BigSam, or Steve Bruce. He's not the next wave of brilliant young managers. I'm repeating, I'll stop.

Remember how our public wooing of the likes of Crouch, Downing and Adam were always meant to be smokescreens for our pursuit of bigger stars. Well, there were never any bigger names... just Crouch, Downing and Adam. There's no Klopp or LVG, just... Roberto Martinez.
