So if Rafa came back..........

See I think it's the safer option rather than the better option, because we don't know how the other managers will deal.

I'm optimistic whoever we go with will do well, but with Rafa we kind of know how he might do.

Yeah, Champs league nearly every year, whopping teams like Real Madrid; and if he *has* improved and learned from his mistakes, maybe he could go that extra mile.

He started with a champs league squad though. He strengthened with that money. We won't have that money, possibly for several seasons.

And I doubt our current squad could wallop Madrid.

Pretty much what I'm thinking. He's not my favourite option either but like you said I'd rather have Rafa than Rodgers, Martinerz and Lambert.
yup. given the options mentioned. rafa wins hands down.

People are frowning upon managers of premiership clubs because they aren't good enough but want a man who no big club will go near because they know he's a circus act, and whose most recent job (apart from shameless self promotion) was providing technical assistance to Wales.

Keep drinking the kool aid boys.

Rafa is a much smaller risk than Martinez. He won't make the same mistake again. I think the time he has been forced to spend out of the game has been a humbling experience for him. I really believe that.

I dunno man ... And if it hasn't? You're risking a seriously important year on Rafa 'learning' from a 'humbling experience'? That's cares the hell out of me ...

You do realized he caused tremendous damage to Mourinho's Inter powerhouse in less than 6 months, benching a striker Mourinho had made into one of the world's best (Diego Milito)? How will he learn from those mistakes?

Whos your pick?

Isn't it a huge risk to assume he'll be able to 'deal' with a strong and charismatic DOF? He may not be stupid, but he repeated the errors with Valencia with Inter, and cost himself a job with the best team in Italy and Europe. In 6 months, he caused enough damage to take away all that Mourinho had built. Is the risk worth it? I'm really really skeptical.
Wasn't the team Maurinho left behind decimated with injuries during his 6 months with Inter? Tell me more.

Did he play for the national team?
Of course it could have been exposure that got him there too.

I can see why you'd that, and why many would do the opposite ... I wish we had a better option tbh ...
Until the better option is declared, I will despair if the 3 premier manager mentioned are actually chosen over Rafa.

He was only early twenties. Who were the full backs at the time for Spain? Capdevila? Lopez? Salgado? He was always going to struggle to break into the national squad when making 20 apps for Deportivo

torres was 27. you just said gerrard was entering his prime (age wise), well, so was torres.
Yeah, torres should have been at the peak of his powers, but he was moving around like a mardy tart for us and for chelsea. He didn't want to get involved because he's a little bitchy bitch.
