Oncy knocks over another analogy. You really are the king of analogies on this site. Krump enjoys throwing out some random one too.

It's pretty sad that if we somehow manage 4th that will be seen as an achievement. how the mighty have fallen...

first is first and second is beyond our wildest dreams.

[/quote]Of course it will be an achievement. Weve been out of Europe for 2 seasons. And according to half the posters on here as soon as we are back in Europe Messi, Aguero and Ozil will come here.

I love you Halmeister.

Ergh. Okay, well at least keep it here. If this raging homosexual behaviour creeps into Facebook or Xbox Live I may have to destroy the internet.

Given where we were last year Neil it would be an achievement. Yes we fell far, very far but we're on our way back now - it's a shame some can't see that or don't have the patience to see it. So either buy a ticket and jump on the positivity bus or get the fuck off and walk the rocky road of pain and frustration I say !

I think I'm a pretty patient guy but the points we've dropped and in the manner we dropped those points is frustrating and demoralising

I'm nowhere near as miserable as others on here. I've said from the off that we wasted our money a bit, but we have a much better team than 12 months ago. Sadly, so do most of the sides around us.

The game against Norwich is one of those that happens. Doesn't really happen to the top, top sides, because they take their chances, but has been happening to us for as long as I've watched football. We're not as bad as some are saying on here. But we still have some way to go. 4th would be a good achievement - and that's more to do with the strength of the top sides now, rather than a dramatic decline in quality from us.

I'd like to believe us getting 4th place this season but watching the 9 games we played in its a slim hope.

So much so for Arsenal's worst start for 58 years and our best start in 17 years. We lead them by 2 points at the moment. :-[

Make that a point ahead of us with us having a game in hand. Race for fourth's gonna be tough...

Manchester City have sparked a Champions League revolution – with Liverpool and Arsenal cast in the role of losers.

That’s the view of City’s midfield enforcer Nigel de Jong.

The Holland star takes no prisoners on the field and his assessment of the battle to be in the Premier League’s top four on a regular basis is typically forthright.

De Jong said: “You just have to look at Liverpool and Arsenal. They have lost what I call their subscriptions to a place in the top four. They now have severe competition from other clubs.

“First, it came from Chelsea. Now we are a competitor too. Arsenal and Liverpool are forced to consider making new signings to strengthen their teams.

“They can’t survive in the top four with a modest transfer policy or just a couple of ordinary signings.

“There are six or seven teams who can fight for the four top places in the Premier League now.’’

Arsenal have been Champions League stalwarts for 15 years but City’s spending has blown their English rivals apart.

And De Jong insists City’s Abu Dhabi-backed investments are good for the English game.

He explained: “If City had not started this development project at Eastlands, the European transfer market would be dead now. We are creating a bigger gap between the bigger and smaller clubs in the League.

“But the big advantage is that the public get to see an incredibly high level of football each week.’’

Despite the investment of hundreds of millions, De Jong does not accept any pressure on his team in the Champions League this week when they take on Villarreal.

“We have been labelled as one of the favourites. People can do that, but we know that the role of favourites is absolutely ridiculous. Our only goal is to reach the next round, as we are in the most difficult of all groups in the Champions League. Nothing more is expected from us. Our main goal is winning the Premier League.

“If you want to be successful in both competitions, you need more experience than we have.

“As a squad, we have zero experience of the Champions League. You could see the big difference when we played Bayern Munich. They do not have better players than City, but they do have a better team, with seven or eight players who played in the Champions League final in 2010.

“You could not only see the difference, every player in our squad felt it during the match.”

De Jong recalls joining City in 2009. He said: “Everyone thought I was mad. Why did I prefer Man City above other clubs?

“But Sheik Mansour’s people sold the club and their ambitions very well to me.

“They told me we were going to buy big players and we would be making big steps in a couple of seasons. Everything they said was solid.

“They literally said to me, ‘within four years, we will have a team that will play for the league title’. And this season is the first year that is happening.

“I really think we can go and become the new champions of England.”

What a fucking gobshite, "they are forced to make new signings", errrrr.... a bit rich coming from you softlad.
