Skrtel injured

Hah, when other strikers enjoy playing against your CBs....

An article published on The Anfield Wrap siterecently spoke of how one former rival had, off the record, told the author how he enjoyed playing against Skrtel.

“He doesn’t speak much,” was one observation, while his marking at set-pieces was also questioned. The opponent in question was another who regularly enjoyed productive days against the Reds.

They should interview Costa.

It's amazing how after one shit game this stuff comes out, and how even our own fans lap it up. You'd think in Fantasy Football heaven that every other top centre back out there is completely infallible and incapable of having an off game.

I know you've never rated him, but giving this shite any sort of credibility, because it suits your point, is pathetic.

At one point that article names Drogba as one of the strikers who have supposedly led Skrtel a merry dance, but the truth is rather different. The first time they played against each other (in a CL game at Stamford Bridge) Drogba tried to outmuscle Skrtel the way he had so many other defenders, but soon gave up after being dumped on his @rse a time or two. He did better against us after that, but largely by staying well away from Skrtel. If that's a sample of the article's accuracy it should have been sponsored by Andrex.

Kolo, even in his twilight years, is a far more accomplished and reliable option than Can at centre back. You can't afford to have a player in there who momentarily switches off throughout matches.

As for Skrtel, he had a poor game at the weekend, everyone's allowed one occasionally, he's been one of our most consistent players for the last few years and has been our best centre back since Carragher left. Our quality may have dropped in recent years overall, but he's managed to be an ever present in two title challenging sides and has seen off alot of players now who've come and gone. He's getting on a bit and has lost a yard, but yeah. Let's see how much we'll miss him.

I dunno mate, I'm not convinced by Kolo anymore than I am by Can there.

Can or Kolo, same level at CB for me at this stage.

Skittles out for 6 weeks.
