Martin Skrtel will visit hospital for a routine check-up after being knocked unconscious in the third minute, the Slovakian departing on a stretcher after the game was held up for eight minutes for him to receive treatment.

Skrtel, though, was keen to come back on and Rodgers allayed fears of any serious damage. “He is fine but he will go to the local hospital to make sure,” said the Reds boss. “If he had his choice, he wouldn’t but we have to follow procedure. “He was fine, up walking and talking after the game but as a precaution we need to make sure he is okay.”

On Sunday evening, Skrtel offered an update on his official Instagram account, in which he confirmed he is feeling well.

He wrote: "Everything is alright. I was unconscious for a bit but glad it is nothing serious. "I wanted to carry on but fair play to the physios, they didn't let me - that's the rules! "Off for a couple of days with the family. Thanks for all your support. YNWA."

Give him a good foot massage whilst he's waiting on the ambulance. Assuming he can feel his feet.

Apparently Blackburn's doctor sat watching them fuck around for 10mins and then finally had to come on and sort out the situation himself.

That is unbelievable. Nevermind that if something serious happens and we have no doctor of our own, what happened is the rival teams doctor came on, "diagnosed" him with a concussion and had our player removed from the game. It was probably the right call in this case, but why would you be so stupid as to allow this to happen in the first place?

Didnt we sack our doctor over the Sturridge/Remy fuckups?

Yeah we're not very good at this medical stuff. I heard we were going to try and sort it out sometime between the ground extension and the pitch relaying.

There were rumours to that effect, but according to the man himself he left for family reasons. Although he's a Red, his family remained down in London (where he'd been working before) and he said the situation had become unsustainable, which one can understand.

Whatever the truth of all that, though, it's worrying that we haven't replaced the guy yet.

It would be brilliant if they picked a random doctor from the crowd each time.
Would just add to the spectacle.
