Realistically, I would do what we did for parts of the first half of the season. Send the fringe players away and play a stronger spine in the home games.

If we want to progress, keep our better players and attract world class new players without being held to ransom with their wage demands and signing on fees then Champions League has to be a priority. Anyway to win the Europa League which still includes the likes of Zenith, Chelsea, Inter, Napoli, Lazio Anji & Ajax might be a bigger ask than pulling back 9 points on Spurs.

Can't agree. It's far more important that we're playing Champion's League football next year, than winning a fucking UEFA cup. If we're going to be attracting bigger and better names, we need to be playing CL football.

I'm sad that we live in a world where modern football, utter shite that it is, has relegated winning a European trophy, the League Cup and even the FA Cup to being less important than finishing 4th. Fucking 4th by the way! so we can appear in another cup competition. We should be competing in every competition we are in.

With Arsenal away at improving Sunderland on Saturday and with Everton losing away to Utd on Sunday, I'm optimistic (had to spell-check that, LTW) that when we beat West Brom on Monday night we'll have gained a little on at least one of the teams above us. Our next league game will then be playing Swansea at home on Sun Feb 17 whilst our rivals are playing in the FA Cup that weekend. Should we beat Swansea we will have closed up a lot on 4th place (although we will have played a game more). For those reasons I'm unhappy we have the trip to Russia in between the league games because I don't want it to affect the chance these two homes games give us to apply some pressure on 4th in the next 10 days.
