Should he stay or should he go?

I'd love him to stay, but it's hard to imagine him signing a new contract - and if he doesn't, then we've really got to sell. What worries me is Inter hanging on till the end of the transfer window in order to drive the price down, knowing that they're the only club in for him. We need to give some kind of deadline for this or we'll end up in trouble.

As for replacements... if Defour really is available for £9m, I think he'd be good. I'd also be quite interested in a part-exchange with Cambiasso. We won't find an out-and-out defensive destroyer as good as Masher, so we need to find a different kind of player to replace him.

I wouldn't rule out a Barca bid yet Bunny. With Toure gone they've only really got Busquets as a first-teamer defensive shield (tho I think Marquez should be considered one too.)

I'd consider Marquez in part-exchange +15/20m.

I would be extremely happy if we landed someone like Khedira as Maschers replacement.

There are a lot of good central midfielders out there that are availeble for a decent sum, and Roy has showned that he can spot a good deal so I have every faith in him and CP.

I think Khedira could be an excellent signing as he only has 1 year left on his contract and would be available relatively on the cheap.
That said I have only see him play at the World Cup so he could just as well turn out to be a flop but we should probably be looking at him for the reported 8-9M

Khedira hasn't signed yet for Real, and I think their officials said that no bid has been placed either.
He'll probably end up there, as he has said that is his favoured destination.

Still wouldn't mind a bid, as Stuttgart have said he can leave for 9 mill euros.

As for Defour, he's a complete midfielder and has everything in his game. He's quite the aggressive type aswell and strong in the tackle. I think he could do a great job for us.

He might have changed his mind. I can see his wife loving our monsoon season.

If not, we should look at the Fellatio chap who plays with Everton.

They paid 16 mil for him didn't they? They'd want a wheelbarrow full of million pound notes.

Barca are broke, aren't they? I'd let them have Mascher for £15m if they gave us Pedro.

Mascherano set to leave Liverpool after talks

By Harry Harris, Football Correspondent

Javier Mascherano has been told he can leave Liverpool, according to ESPNsoccernet sources, having held talks with the Liverpool hierarchy on Monday.

Mascherano, who captained Argentina at the World Cup, spoke with manager Roy Hodgson after returning from holiday, having previously ignored the new manager's attempts to contact him.

A source close to Mascherano told Soccernet: "The talks were extremely amicable. It was all done in a very nice way. Javier made it clear that he wanted to leave a year ago when he and the chance to go to Barcelona.

"He was asked to stay on for one more year, he agreed, so now it is time for him to go. It was all very pleasant and it is now a question of the two clubs who are interested in him making an acceptable offer to Liverpool."

Hodgson held talks with skipper Stephen Gerrard and convinced him to stay, but has failed to convince Mascheran, who now looks likely to rejoin former manager Rafael Benitez at Inter Milan or seal a move to Spanish champions Barcelona, who are looking to replace Yaya Toure after admitting defeat over Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas.

I'd take Ozil at the expense of Aquilani.

He's a wonderful player who will only get better.

Everything Aquilani could be really.
