Really do think this guy will end up being a beast for us...Was great positionally yesterday and is incredibly strong.

Thought i'd mention a player that played well yesterday as a lot of the discussion here and quite rightly, has been how bad our midfield display and quality was yesterday...

Yep, I was nervy about him at first but he's a beast. Really like him.

Loved how he muscled a player off the ball yesterday, when it seems he was being left behind initially

For the first twenty minutes he slipped over so often I thought he was wearing plimsolls. I can never understand professional players looking like they've chosen the wrong boots for the conditions. He was good after that, but I'd like to see him in a proper back four.

I thought he was at fault for the first goal to be honest. He gets dragged out of place far too often.

Picking up that run from midfield should be our defensive mids job. He was in nomansland.

Sakho is ace. End off.

He came advancing out when he didn't need to. Skrtel had to try and fill the gap he left at the near-post to cover Sagna's cross, which meant that Sagna's ball in got to where it did.

As things stand, we probably could've gotten by quite comfortably with the other defenders we have - we're not getting by with the midfield we have and a 17M (good) midfielder sounds pretty good about now.

So with that in mind, I hope that relatively soon we're talking about how we were lucky to nab a top class defender in waiting when we did otherwise we wouldn't have gotten him at all.

I'd rather have bought a CM but he certainly looks like he can become mainstay in our defence for the next 10 years.

He's settled very quickly after a woeful debut.

flanno was to blame following that logic, a run up and a hopeless ball into the box when he no one was there.

Mainstay in our defence for the next 10 years?? That's a bold statement to say the least.

I hope you're right but Sakho has a long way to go before that much faith can be put upon him.

We're probably going to buy a top midfielder in January.

Sakho is boss. Captain material imho.

He's young and looks to have every attribute you need to be a success in the English game.

Barring some terrible injury or a big side coming in for him I think he will become a legend here.

This is absolutely spot on.

And I do think Sakho looks promising with great potential just not what we really needed especially when knowing Skrtel wasn't going anywhere and that we failed to bring in a creative outlet ready to make an impact which Alberto and Aspas certainly hasn't been.

Maybe we were working two deals at the same time, and the one involving Skrtel going out didn't work out, but we stayed the course on the one bringing in Sakho.

Toure was being slated by so many here at the time. Had we not brought in Sakho and had Toure performed as badly as people feared, we'd have been hearing cries to no end about us not working on improving at the back.

I for one didn't fear for Toure though, and seriously I mean if the gaffer believed in him as much as he wanted to sign him I don't think there'd been a need to bolster any further.

I do get your Skrtel argument though, if we thought he was leaving we'd look slim with only Toure and Agger and llori in there.

Can't help but thinking back to last Summer where Rodgers thought he had a new striker lined up in place of Carroll and then OOPS.

Sakho is already a permanent fixture in the team says it all.

He plays because Rodgers have reverted in to a 3-5-2 model, trying to shoehorn all his CBs into the team.

What does that really tell us? To me it looks mostly like a manger chopping and changing to make space for his "marquee signing" more than anything.

This is NOT me saying Sakho has been bad (apart from his first two games perhaps) as he has looked strong and solid mostly. So has the rest of them mostly however and that's all what Keni was saying I guess. At least that's my point.

Understandably Sakho was brought in with the expectation that Coates nad/or Skrtel would be moved on. We have a plethora of quality options now as opposed to a dearth. Rogers headged his bets. Now he has a decision to make but the players themselves have to put in the hard yards to earn a spot. Nothing wrong with competition although I feel for Agger who hasn't put a foot wrong.
