Odd. Had high hopes. He's a very classy player. He will do well back at Dortmund again where he earned rave reviews.

No, I don't think so, Dave.

He'll hardly get a sniff in there unless he gets his form curve seriously up. Dortmund's midfield is stuffed with good players.

It's an odd signing for Dortmund, they don't need him.

The rumour has been doing rounds in Germany since weeks before Christmas though.

Thats a shame... never really got to see the best of him really... good luck to him.

I think that's exactly the problem there. I think we saw his best.

Klopp and his system tend to get the best out of players with some talent but not exactly world beaters. Their style of play makes players like Sahin, Barrios or Kagawa look better than they really are. As soon as these players start to believe the hype around them and to think they are world class players it starts to go tits up. They leave for clubs like Real Madrid or us or the mancs and realize they are mediocre at best in these teams.

I know I beat the Lewandowski drum for quite a while but I came to think he's the next to fail at some big club.

Something wasn't right. Perhaps he was lazy, perhaps he wasn't good enough or perhaps he was homesick...anyway too bad it didn't work out, whatever reason.

i just stupidly read a goal.com article on why he failed at both us and madrid .

this bit sums up how shite the article was

Anfield was never the right place for him. Bild claimed that he had been "betrayed" by Brendan Rodgers regarding promises about which position he would play, while Steven Gerrard was said to be jealous of the Turk. Mediocre players like Jonjo Shelvey were picked ahead of him.

Gerrard jealous of sahin !!!! fuck me .

and this bit is so ridiculous it is most likely true !

"The talent Sahin possesses was clear to see on rare occasions but the misuse of the 24-year-old coupled with suggestions that his signing might have been the work of the club's former director of communications, Jen Chang, make this latest development understandable."

Calling him shite, terrible and a poor player is way ott.
It didnt work out for him here, but he's a quality player. There is no doubt about that.

Interesting you should mention Lewandowski. Too many good judges, you included, have praised him in the past for me to slate him, but he's never managed to impress me that much when I've seen him in action. Decent player, but no more than that, has always been my view.

It seems there's a lot of speculation about why the loan didn't work out and some crazy theories flying round (signed by Chang, lazy, shit etc)

The simple truth is there is 2 deep midfield positions available (Sahin's preferred position) and 1 advanced available. The days of Gerrard playing behind the striker seem to be over and after a slow start he has been excelling as one of the 2 (more assists than anyone else in Europe bar Iniesta/Messi apparently). That leaves one position next to Gerrard or the advanced midfielder role, which means Sahin was competing with Allen and Lucas for that position, and Henderson and Shelvey for the spot behind the striker. Allen knows Rodger's system so was always going to be favourite. With Lucas out injured it is not a surprise that we saw Gerrard and Allen with Sahin ahead of them earlier in the season. The fact Sahin hardly played last year and was trying to reach match fitness in a faster league did not help his cause, neither did being played further up the pitch than he would have liked. Factor in the broken nose and it just wasn't meant to be.

Nothing more sinister than that.

Or....

Sneijder.

Cost us about two and a half million quid to have that waste of skin and organs 'grace' our pitch.
What a fucking game this is.

The fact that we had him on loan, got half the fee back and the wages off the books was a great move though.

Imagine if we could have had the brains to negotiate a 1 year loan first for Aquilani. Could have saved so much money the streets around Anfield would now be covered in gold.

It wasn't working out, he was costing us loads of money and wasn't justifying that spend, which could be spent elsewhere, so he's been moved on. It's a loan that didn't work out, no biggy. It's no more than that and I wish him luck.

Well, then why did we sign him? We knew we'd have Allen, and we would have expected Lucas to be fit. If we knew that, we would have known Sahin wouldn't play. I think it's because he was lazy.

I think we were trying to get rid of Henderson last summer but it looks like that has changed now.

One could ask why the fuck Rodgers has decided that Gerrard's best position is no longer his best position. He should have been playing behind Suarez like he used to play behind the traitorous Spaniard all season long.

Everyone save Rogers believes this is the way to go.

Sahin: I was not happy at Real or Liverpool

January 25, 2013
By Stephan Uersfeld, Germany Correspondent
Nuri Sahin said he was delighted to be back at Borussia Dortmund as he looked ahead to what could be his first appearance at the Westfalenstadion since April 2011.

APNuri Sahin is back at his old club

Sahin, 24, returned to the club after spending 12 months at Real Madrid and a further six on loan at Liverpool, and came on as a substitute in the 5-0 win at Werder Bremen last weekend.

The Turkey international has signed an 18-month loan deal, which reportedly also includes a €7 million option for Dortmund to make the transfer permanent.

Sahin, who could be involved in the game against Nurnberg on Friday, told Ruhr Nachrichten: "I can only go 100% when I am happy. This wasn't the case at Madrid and Liverpool. That's why I wanted to return to Dortmund."

He said he believed his move to Spain had suffered because he had carried a knee injury into his first pre-season at Real.

"I thought about this a lot," he explained. "It cost a lot of energy. I knew things would have been different if I hadn't been injured. But that was my fate.

"It might have looked like I failed. I would not see it like this. During my time at Madrid, I suffered injuries to my intra-articular ligament three times over a short period of time."

During Sahin's absence, Dortmund won the domestic double and Ilkay Gundogan filled the gap in midfield.

"I know the game has changed," Sahin said. "I must bring in my qualities and become an even better player than I was to help the team.

"I just hope this story here will last for a long, long time. I know where I want to be. And I am there now."
