Im not sure I agree with Ryan about Mr Rodgers signings.
I suppose he has a point about BIG names but Coutinho, Sturridge, Moreno, Lallana, Manquillo, Can, Lovren, Markovic, Sakho, Allen, Borini etc can all play.
I think maybe hes done a good job but with the age of the squad its going to be difficult to tell for a while how good they can be.
A bit like when Fergie brought Neville, Scholes, Beckham, Giggs, Butt all through together it looked sketchy but went on to be the bedrock of a dynasty.
I like the players he buys, I like what he tries to do. Probably right that ONE world class player in there makes all the difference but its a bit harsh to judge him on investing in the future when he has to all intents and purposes tried to invest in the now with Costa, Willian, Mykhtarian etc.
Im not sure its his fault they havnt come or not. Regardless his transfer philosphy is sound in my eyes. And most of the players he signs are ball players. I like that.

It's true I was behind Markovic from the start, but mainly because he fit in with what I've been banging on about for years: buy top prospects young, because you get a great return either in years of service or sell on fee, and also cos it is actually a plausible way of getting world class (a few years hence) into the squad. By waiting until they're near their peak you pay at least double for a smaller return, and most pertinently of all, they wouldn't come anyway!

Well I defined him as an expensive kick and run merchant before even seeing him play, so I think I win the writing him off award.

I think the current version of Lazar would do nicely if I was forced down that road. Maybe I could wash my fingers in coutinhos hair after - Greek style as it were.
So where do we think he will be deployed this season?
3 at the back looks to be working (3 average CBs is better an 2 - although I have to say Can is looking v composed) so that leaves less spots down the middle where he is meant to be best and would we really play him wingback in big games?

He is doing excellently out of position. I presume he personally prefer a CAM position. I can picture him picking up the ball in central positions and running directly at the goal. He can go right or left of the defender which places him in the position of power.

I think the rational position was to note he'd shown great promise before, he'd struggled badly in his early appearances, but he'd been scouted exceptionally carefully and deserved plenty of faith. I think that's what I said, given this rather gawky bit of boyish boasting on here.
I always, always give players the benefit of the doubt.
