Markovic deserves his own thread after that MOTM performance. Scored the winner, should have won a pen and hit the crossbar with a kick that wouldn't look out of place in the Raid 3. Look at Conor Wickham's reaction, Ha.
Lazar needs to start every game. He has had a slow start to his career here but he is ready to impact games now. His potential is immeasurable in my opinion. He is still only 20. I've no idea how good he could get.

From memory, only Daveed and I were on the bandwagon from day one. I remember some thread after he'd put in a horror show earlier in the season where I'd claimed there was "a player in there somewhere" and got destroyed for it.
I'm pure claiming this kid. Been all over his swag since day dot.

That said I certainly wasnt on the baller bus until the cameo in Europe when in 15 minutes I think I made him man of the match.
He looks really good potential and im glad we signed him. Once he starts regularly for Madrid he will be amazing.
I have always been behind Lazar. Not particularly through observation, but because he had too many factors on his side (youth, cockiness, success with previous clubs). The physicality was a worry, and the possible hit to his confidence, but you could see early against City, and later in the Basle cameo, that he could play. I think Rodgers has handled him pretty well, and it's starting to pay off.
But a big thing for me is that we invested in this player. I'm not interested in being "Mr big shot" who wrote him off quickly, or who invented a clever insulting name for him. I don't understand that. I'm not convinced Lazar will be a success, but I am looking for every positive I can find. Same with Lovren. Brendan will hopefully find the right way back in for him, and he will become the defender we thought he'd be.

I've been a fan since his first cameo and said as much in that match thread and post match thread. He still has a ways to go but fuck that volley had me jumping and screaming in the Imperial.
I like Markovic at wing-back. Everybody talked about his attacking contribution today, but defensively, I noticed even when he finds himself out of position, his speed ensures he can make up ground most of the time. That's valuable – we are not going to be beaten for pace by any winger on either flank. He also effortlessly blocked several crosses today and even won a couple of headers in the box.
I don't think anybody else should play RWB as long as Markovic is fit, at least for now. I think having players like him and Moreno just makes this 3-4-3 system work, because we have real attacking threat, speed and energy on the wings and with Can and Sakho mopping up behind them we also seem to be solid enough defensively in these areas. Put Johnson and Enrique in the same positions and it would be a very different story. I hope Rodgers settles on this back 5 from now on.

I'm not having that. I called this one long before he'd even signed...and i was the lone voice...the lone fucking voice...advocating playing him at the back. That thread shamefully hangs like a fucking great noose around the necks of some of the most respected posters on here. And Ryan.
