I like Roy Hodgson.

I'm not sure he's the man to take us to glory, but I'd certainly back him to steady the ship, which I think is what's needed.

So, is the general consensus that this appointment is a short-term one with the brief to consolidate, spend fuck all, and hopefully get us back into the CL? And we're all ok with that?

I'm not criticising it, just delighted to see such a sense of reality abounding. Our expectations and hopes are seriously limited these days.

That's life, I have had my season ticket for over thirty years, you have to take the rough with the smooth.
I wasn't complaining about how much the ticket was when it was almost boring watching us win every week, and I ain't about to now :🙂

Hmmm, alot of todays papers are reporting Daglish has thrown his name in now and has removed himself from the selection panel. Apparently he looked at the list and he thinks could do a better job than the managers they have identfied.

No matter who we appoint we still have to set our goal as winning the title as un-realistic as it sounds. Well thats what im expecting anyways.
Hodgeson isnt bad, it could be much worse... (domenache) or however you spell that benders name, and other shit managers like him
 
For all those who wanted Rafa out and are now booing about the likely appointment being Roy, what the fuck did you expect?

If he can get us back into the top 4 then he'll of done a good job, and with the players available to him right now he has a decent chance of doing that.
 
I'd be happy with Roy. He's a fine manager. e=People just want a cultured european to guide us through this dark times, with a cocky swagger and a quip at every press conference. Someone who forces us to believe in him. Roy doesn't inspire that same confidence, but i'm more than happy to have him on board
 
Uncle Woy is about the right standard of appointment for a club that came 7th, will lose some of their best players, and has no money

Fulham have been playing good football with Roy managing, at the very least he get our players to enjoy playing again and the fans on his side quickly. If he pulls that off after a few games we could gather momentum and have a good season.

*That's optimistic but after last season what else could possibly go wrong?

Completely. It's just such a bloody comedown, though. It's like you've just had a messy night out, woken up with a massive hangover, and roy's standing there with a cup of tea for you.

In fairness, when I did that "next manager" poll recently, (including Benitez, McLeish, Uncle Woy and MONg), 50% of the site plumped for Benitez, more than twice as many who went for Woy.

Now that 50% probably had a few of his dwindling army of fans in it, but I would wager it had far more people who thought Benitez had been a fucking disaster last season, but knew full well we wouldn't get anyone better, so voted for him.

So let's leave the "haha told you so's" out for the moment. Most of us KNEW this was going to happen.

Our only hope now is King Kenny as caretaker until the club is sold. Otherwise we are truly fucked.

None of have any idea how Dalglish would get on. Saying he is our "only hope" (for what exactly?) is a bit dramatic to say the least.
