I've never seen Butland play, at least not that I recall. Is he actually any good or is this the British hype machine at work again?

I'm pretty meh about any England-based keeper joining us to be honest. There is a lot of great goalkeeping talent in Europe at the moment and I just don't see us getting better at home.

If we are going to go down the British I wouldn't mind signing John Ruddy from Norwich.

The local Stoke rag is saying that Stoke hope to get Butland for around £4m and would be willing to loan him out for this season and next if he's not in the first team. Butland's representatives have decent ties with Stoke as they're only based a few miles down the road
