Cavalieri - 4 - We had to endure some scary shit tonight Diego and a couple of routine catches did not really mask that. He looks like he could be a decent keeper (at least on the evidence of one or two previous outings), but looks far too nervous to come into games cold like this.

Degen - 6.5 - Showed a great turn of pace on several occasions and got into some great attacking positions, but needs to improve on the whole decision making process. You can't dribble past everyone... unless you're Messi.

Skrtel - 5.5 - Should've done better.

Zorba - 5.5 - Should've done better and was too afraid of getting done for pace at times.

Insua - 6.5 - Fantastic goal and like Degen, tried to support the attack as much as possible. Got caught out defensively a number of times, but with Babel in front of him, that was always going to happen.

Babel - 5 - Wasteful.

Kuyt - 5.5 - Not his best game tonight.

Spearing & Plessis - 5 - Damage limitation exercise all night long.

N'Gog - 7 - Put in a lot of work up top, won balls he had no right to win and generally did as best he could with very little to work with. I would kinda like to see him play more centrally though as opposed to working the channels so much.

Voronin - 6 - Forgot all about him. Looks decent when he's got an extra second to think about what he's going to do. Otherwise, he's gash. Get rid.

Dossena's conclusion:
Our reserves ain't THAT bad.
Cavelieri is bad. 5
Skrtel still needs a lot of work. 5
Degen got unfair flak in the past 1.5 years. 7
Kyrgiakos would not get his contract extended. 4
Insua can hit the ball. 6
Kuyt was our best defender of the night. 7
Plessis and Spearing won't make it. 4
Babel is a useless rapping lump. 4
Voronin after a rusty start was actually good. 6
N'Gog was better. 7
Aquilani can play.

Cavalieri - 5
Degen - 7.5
Skrtel - 5.5
Zorba - 6.5
Insua - 6.5
Babel - 4
Kuyt - 5
Spearing - 5.5
Plessis - 4
N'Gog - 7.5
Voronin - 6.5

Cavalieri - 4 - Shite

Degen - 7 - Not as bad as we were led to believe.

Skrtel - 5 - Not his best performance.

Zorba - 5 - Ready for the knackers yard.

Insua - 6 - Meh. +1 for the great goal

Babel - 4 - One footed twat

Kuyt - 5 - Poo tonight

Spearing 5 - not up to it

Plessis - 3 - utter shite

N'Gog - 7 - Looked much better

Voronin - 6 - First half naff. Second half promising

Babel is finished. I actually think N'gog is the better player right now. We have to ship him out urgently.

Aquilani is very adventurous with his passing, which is great! He is a lot more mobile than Xabi, which is also great!

But i have my doubts about him being able to control the pace of a game. I also have my doubts about his defensive ability (for a central midfielder you can't just neglect that aspect). Perhaps he will improve with match fitness.

I'm most disappointed with Spearing.

After reading a lot of good reviews in this forum about the midge, especially as I notice that the 6CM's community is a hard one to please, I would've thought he'd be much much better.

He tries to play with composure, but panic whenever there's someone pressing him.

His passes even under no pressure are not well weighted at all.

He won't make it at this club, I don't think he will make it in the Premier League at all.

midfield was the big problem, they were more energetic and pressed more especially with Ramsay and that made the difference for them.

Cavalieri - 4 - Shakey mofo who should have done better on the 2nd goal.

Degen - 7 - Has top top pace, comfy on the ball and covered Skrtel a few times too.

Skrtel - 5 - Solid for the most part, but that's it, and either he or the greek (personally I say Martin since he is more experienced and not getting over an injury) should have sorted out their lines for that 2nd goal.

The Greek - 5 - Same as Skrtel, except a bit slower and slightly less imposing.

Insua - 6 - A great great goal, aided well in the attack at times and generally worked hard. Left us exposed at times though.

Kuyt - 6 - Worked hard as usual, did some great defending, but as the most senior player on the pitch he should have been doing more to help N'Gog. Solid but nothing special.

Plessis - 5 - A decent first half in which he made some good challenges and put some decent balls about, he was noticeable. He was almost anonymous in the 2nd half though.

Spearing - 4 - Nicked a couple of balls and layed them off, that's about all he did for 90 minutes. He didn't link well, his shots were crap, he went missing and he got skinned by Ramsey once every 5 minutes. The most laughable thing is that there was a worse player on the pitch than him and that he thinks he should be getting time for the 1st team, Pffft.

Babel - 1 - Useless fucking wanker! Horrible touch, easier to dispossess than a blind quadriplegic (and about as useful as), never brought anyone into the game, was greedy and lost the ball all the god damn time, had way too many chances now and IMO should be shot. He get's 1 point for managing to dress himself and last the 90. I never want to see him play for us again.

Voronin - 6 - Very much a game of two halves for the Crow. He was shite in the first half, looked moody, slow, sloppy in posession, you name it. In the 2nd half though he was involved in nearly everything good in their half, skillful, good eye for the pass and did as well as he could on his shots. This is the Voronin I want to see more of.

N'gog - 6.5 - I felt he should have stayed on the pitch. He'd been putting himself about very nicely all night, worked very well off the ball, dragging defenders and creating space, and played others in on multiple occasions. It's just a shame he had sod all support.

Rafa - 4 - Not a bad team to put out while giving others a rest, but poor and late subs again didn't help. I feel we missed an opportunity tonight.

Apart from the knockdown to Insua that led to our goal?

Wales have a very tasty midfield duo in Collison and Ramsey. Add a DM to the mix and that's their spine sorted.

Maybe they could qualify for the WC in 4 years time.

If Slovakia could..

Wenger spent a good deal of money on him too. I'm going to be sick of hearing about the genius of Arsene Wenger in developing youth.

Wenger spends a lot of money on youth players and it goes largely unnoticed. He does not have a cheap factory in china that makes these arsenal branded kids.

His game plan for the last few years has been investing in younger players. To his credit, he does seem to get these kids playing well in his system.

Kenni watch it again mate, Babel had no idea Insua was coming, he just tried to keep it away from the Arsenal player, he fluked it into Insua's path.

Don't forget Bale!

I'm expecting a WC semi final next time around.

Na, he won't fit in with our total football ethos.

How many last straws does Babel get?

Seriously, he didn't look at all bothered tonight and only ever runs fast going forward. Whack him in the reserves.

That had to be his last chance tonight. I'd do excatly as you say Del and stick his arse in the reserves, at least until he can be sold in January (anything above £3M for me would get him) anyway.

Don't forget his wages 🙂

I think it would be more beneficial to pay the bastard to stay away from the team though 😉

I agree.

Where does Arsenal unearth these youngsters ??

It's like a conveyor belt of churning talent after talent over there. Our youth setup really sucks big time.

For £5Million! An awful lot of money for a then 17 year old.
[/quote]
Worth every penny it's looking now..

It seems that people have been talking about the quality of the gooners youngsters for at least 5 years now. How many have come through to establish themselves into the first team?
