So do we think Ibe can push on next season and fill the void that Sterling will inevitably leave? When he came in last year he instantly looked like one of our best players. In the item posted below he's come back and is planning on working hard on his shooting. I definitely think he's a much more natural goalscorer than Sterling. Interesting to hear as well that he doesn't need to work on his upper body at all because he's just naturally beasty. He seems to have a lovely mix of terrific attitude, fantastic physique, and the talent to be a special player. I think that he might be the Ace in the pack next season.

Jordon Ibe has promised his breakthrough season at Anfield was 'just the start' and he is out to make a big impact during the coming campaign. The 19-year-old spent the first half of 2014-15 with Derby County, having agreed a season-long loan deal with the Championship side. But, such was the winger's impact at the iPro Stadium, Brendan Rodgers brought him back to Merseyside early and went on to use him in the first team on 14 occasions. Ibe might even have featured more had it not been for a month-long lay-off due to a knee problem and his form was subsequently rewarded with a new long-term deal in May. However, despite breaking into the senior setup at Liverpool on a regular basis for the first time since moving to the club as a 16-year-old, the forward isn't resting on his laurels. He is already working on improving his goalscoring return and will work through his summer break to achieve that aim. "I’m hoping this is just the start for me," he told the Official Liverpool FC Magazine. "I want to play in lots of games. I’d like to play in the Champions League eventually. "But I know I’ve got to start chipping in with goals. I realise this season we haven’t scored enough. If you score goals, it’s easier to win matches. "And from a personal point of view, if you score goals it’s a lot more difficult for the manager to leave you out.” On his summer plans, the England U20 international added: "I’ll have a few breaks abroad and recharge the batteries if it’s possible. But I’m coming back in early. "I’ll be working with Alex Inglethorpe on my shooting. I know I need to improve on every aspect of my game. "But I know too that goalscoring gives you confidence. It can lift other parts of your game to new levels. "I want to give myself every chance of starting next season in form already. "I don’t take my position for granted and I certainly don’t consider myself an established first-team player just because I’ve signed a new contract." It is not just Ibe's ability on the ball that has caught the eye of Kopites since his return to the club in January. The teenager has also evidenced remarkable physical strength for a player of his age - but he insists it is a natural gift. "I don’t do any extra gym work," he continued. "I’m lucky I was born this way and if you hammer it, you’ll go too big and lose that bounce in your speed. I’m quite relaxed about it. "I know a few of the lads use the gym quite a lot and I can understand why because the Premier League is very demanding physically. You have to be ready for the battle."

He really is the anti Stirling. He's got a great shot on him but I like the way he has been very disciplined in his defensive positioning. A shame to put too much pressure on him but he could be a first team regular by the end of next season.

I reckon he'll get 3 goals, and 2 assists over the season

All competitions

I think he's excellent, I really do. He's got a lot to learn of course, but I'm very optimistic that he'll be one of the first names on the team sheet by the end of the year. I just hope we don't coach out his directness.

I love watching Ibe, I think he has more potential and ability than Sterling. He's stronger, more skillful and has a cracking shot.

I hope he's given a chance as he always tries to make something happen with his direct play

I love Ibe, he's great. I doubt he'll be a starter at first but I wouldn't bet against him being a fixture by the end of the season. I can see him getting 7 or 8 goals if he plays in all the cup competitions plus 20-30 PL appearances. We saw against Besiktas that a lot of European teams just won't have the physicality to handle him.

Raheem has done him a favour by playing shite for the last 5 months so I don't think it's as tough an act to follow as it might have been. Since day 1 with Liverpool Ibe has been outstanding in whatever team he has played in, I don't think that's going to change.

All we need to do is find him a place in the team and make sure we don't wear him out or rely on him to carry us.

I reckon he'll come of age, emulate Sterling's success and play a pivotal role in the team's resurgence as a title challenger once again.

The following season he'll learn to smoke shishas, change haircuts, become a prima donna, complain about fatigue while on England duty and throw a transfer request strop.

(just kidding !)

Part of me wants to see him loaned out just to observe a SCM meltdown.

He's going to be a star - I know it. I predict lots of assists, lots of plaudits but few goals. 9-10 assists - 5 goals. Possibly Young Player of the Year.

I reckon he will take to playing in a Frank Sidebottom head.
Turn up to interviews afterward fully naked dick swinging but hes still wearing the Sidebottom head affecting the same nasal drawl.
He'll drive round in a open top Bentley with the big Sidebottom head sticking out.

He will always be in the wall for free kicks.

My honest prediction is he'll be good half the time, bad the other half.

When he's good, his fans will proclaim him better than Sterling. When he's had a bad game, people will long for Sterling.

He's too young to be placing expectations on. So long as he shows he can cut it at this level I'll be delighted.

You say he's too young to have expectations of, and yet you're the chief man for saying wingers like him blossom early and don't get much better. I actually agree with this and think the next 3 seasons will probably see him at his peak.

I wouldn't go that far, but I do wonder if people are making consciously conservative predictions for fear of looking too giddily enthusiastic.

Half his performances will be bad? Based on what? At least 75% of his performances since returning from Derby have been either good or very good. Why would we expect such a dramatic drop off going fresh into a new season?

For me - it's I see what Sterling did and I don't think Ibe will get to that level this year. I think if he applies himself and he's put in the right situation, he'll be a better player and contributor than Sterling in 3 years.

I don't think it's so much about levels. The problem Ibe has that Sterling never did is very serious competition for his place. Whenever Ibe's been able to get into the team he's looked on a level with Sterling at the same point in development.

There's a difference in the two though - I have no problem with playing a teenage winger if they're good. I have a problem saying that they have to score x or they're not good enough.

We need to give him the time and freedom to make mistakes while playing in the first team. The last thing you want to see is a potentially very dangerous winger become someone who feels it's better to stop and pass sideways/ backwards because he might get criticised for not beating the full back / getting a great ball in / scoring etc.

He's going to be good, we need to just let him get on with it and not worry about a goal tally (and especially not an assist tally)

I think his decision not to rest, combined with his nonchalant attitude to the gym and a general slowing of his metabolism as he gets to the end of his teens, will result in an injury and in turn we'll see him pile on the pounds. The fat fuck will finish the season heavier than Charlie Adam.

Ibes performance will depend on how team performs over the course of the season. If team is firing on cylinders with Coutinho, Firmino, Studge/a striker. He will contribute a lot because that will relieve pressure off him and he can play his natural game. In such a case, I expect him to score like 5 goals and 5 assists, in all competitions.

in case our team is performing badly, he will also suffer.

I think he's really naive and limited tactically. He only looked good at wing-back co there was space afforded to him, and all he had to do was run direct at a full-back, which is his prime-time.

He's got a long way to go to play regularly and impact games in one of the wide front 3 roles.
