Chris Wilder announced as Heckingbottom's replacement

On sacking Paul Heckingbottom, Sheffield United owner Prince Abdullah added on Talksport: “I have mixed emotions about letting Paul go. I really have a lot of respect for Paul and everything he did for the club, he’s a very classy guy.
"I’ve been at the club for five years and we changed one manager and that was Slav (Slavisa Jokanovic), so we believe in sticking with the manager and supporting him.
"But I felt like after the last few games it was a necessary decision and the replacement has done great things for the clubs and knows the club, so I feel good about the decision in one way but I really have a tremendous respect for Paul."

On why Chris Wilder has been reappointed: "Chris is very optimistic he can save the season, he doesn’t think it’s easy, but he thinks it’s still possible.
"When you look at the table it's a very special year, a very weird year, when it comes to the standings, so it’s still early. The season is still long and we have every chance to achieve our goals."

Wilder was sacked last time in 2020/21 when the club was last in the EPL with just h 14 points from 28 games. So clearly got the track record

Hard to say, Szobo has been looking leggier and leggier for a while, and part of the complete travesty down our right was down to Szobo (and Salah).

Had a quick check and he played the whole of the first 10 EPL games; the last four have been subbed off at 66' (Luton), 90' (Brentford), 73' (City) and at 64' (Fulham). So it looks like Klopp already taking note.

He has subbed on latie-sh in a few EL games has played mins in both EFL Cup games (1 subbed on, 1 subbed off)

The only positive (and it’s pretty awful) is that it’s happened before the January window - so we’ve enough time to identify the right target (and time to faff about it probably).

It doesn't surprise me, Matip at his best has been excellent for us and he was playing really well this season too.
