I put most of that on Klopp tbh... Uber confidence perhaps... We looked shagged out second half and couldn't handle the strength soton had in the middle...

Mind you the gamble of Benteke nearly worked but IMO hendo should have been The sub for studge... Wanyama was tearing us a new one.

Extremely dissapointing that barring some frankly miraculous shit in Europe our season is totally done in March.

Weird... We looked really really good then utterly fucking shit in the same game.

I don't think there's that much difference between our current centre halves. None of them are top class. They're capable of good games and just as capable as being dreadful.

Skrtel is in more credit than Sahko and Lovren but he earned that playing alongside Carra and Sami. He hasn't had a good defensive season since both those two retired.

We played like shit in the second half, but Klopp needs to take a huge share of the blame. We got dominated in midfield but didn't adjust at all, going for a striker swap instead of tightening the midfield in the first sub. He delayed the Henderson sub to tighten the midfield far too long and when he finally decided it was time, reverse boom! - it was too late. And then he still held off the sub, and reverse boom boom!

Klopp fucked up the match management and the players fucked up on the pitch.

Klopp probably wanted to maintain the formation - and bringing on Hendo meant going to a different formation to accomodate

But yah, he really ahd to react to Wanyama - and he never did. He'll learn from this, as he did from Watford I'm sure.

It's tough to really 'grade' this game as the 1st half was so good, and the 2nd half was so shite.

Skrtel, Wanyama, Skrtel, Mane, Skrtel & Knackered .. the reasons why we lost. What hurts more is we tore them apart first half and should have put the game to bed then.

We should have put Hendo on at 1-2. Thats definetly on Klopp.
Dont think anyone was expecting Skrtel to be that bad. That was one of the worst CB performances I've seen in years.

Stop blaming Klopp. It wasn't his fault when we were winning 2-0, was it ?

It's the stupid players that need a good kicking. What was the entire defense thinking ? They held such a high line, even after Soton brought on their pacy attackers. That's just asking for trouble - infantile defending. Seriously.

We lost because we played like kids in the 2nd half. Amateurs.

Our counter attacking in the first half was the best since our title challenging season under Rodgers. We should have scored more.

Skrtel shouldn't have come on. Klopp's fault.

We looked tired and needed to shore up the game. Sturridge should've come off for a midfielder.

Very disappointing but I guess this is what we've come to expect from Liverpool.

Klopps gotta wear this one, he thought it was done and dusted at 2-0 and decided to give Skrtel and Benteke some game time, the two of them proceeded to completely hand the iniative to Southampton. He also failed to notice Coutinho Can and Lallana all completely gassed out about 15 minutes into the 2nd half.

I kind of feel sorry for Benteke, hes not as bad as hes playing for us but its clear hes done as a Liverpool player. The pressure has gotten to him and hes just crumbling under the weight of it. That miss 2nd half was probably the final nail for him.

We should also add into the mix this was our 4th game in 11 days ... and Southampton's 2nd. Yes Skrtel was absolutely dogshite but we looked tired, always a yard slower to the ball in that 2nd half and just unable to keep the pressure on. This gave Wanyama the space to break up play and win balls he wasn't getting near for 60 mins.

Mane hadnt scored since that goal against us in the league cup. Its always like that...

I don't think the Skrtel sub was mainly about being overconfident and giving him minutes. Lovren was on a yellow, and with the way the crowd was baying at him the first half everytime he went into a tussle, and him having to handle the physical and quick Pelle, I think Klopp wanted to avoid a possible second yellow and going a man down.

The rest of the post I agree with and have said so myself - it was clear we were getting overrun in midfield and guys were getting tired physically and/or mentally. The energy was missing but we did nothing to boost it.

Big question marks on some of those players.

Allen is looking like an impact player at best, we were weak in the middle in the second half.

His miss was awful, after hendos miss midweek, it makes you wonder how technically short some of the best of British players are

It's wrongly. Poor grammar.

Neither is incorrect. "Wrong" is much more common is this context, and perfectly acceptable.

On a separate note: how you get such an easy ride on here is baffling to me. You're so smug, and yet so stupid. Your forum moniker should have been enough to get you booted in the first instance - it's so unbelievably inane.

In the old days you'd have been hounded off here in a few weeks. I miss those days.
