Post Match - Aston Villa (H)

God we were awful today. Still, we got a point out of it which obviously isn't what we wanted but it's not disastrous!

We'll still beat the Blueshite Tuesday week!

It's going to be a fairly embarrassing climb-down after all the talk of Gerrard's "new position". I'm not so convinced Rodgers will bin it off after one setback though if Gerrard was vocal about being crap in the post match interview that might make things more difficult for him.

I could go on about how awful Cissokho was (I'm still hoping against hope that he will find himself on a plane back to Valencia by the end of the month) or any number of other things but the unfortunate bottom line is that most of them were fucking awful out there today.

We were set up to fail, that's true, but that doesn't excuse the shit passing, ball watching, awful first touches and in some cases lackadaisical attitudes. A collective shitfest.

We've seen it happen on more than one occasion this season and it's makes me see red as is evident in the match thread.

I fear this too. Managers are stubborn cunts, but fair play to Rodgers for at least changing it at half time.

I'm still reeling from watching Cissokho. I mean, the man was close to a foul throw every time he reluctantly took a throw in, and then in the last minute he suddenly thought he was Rory Delap!! An abysmal player.

It's one of those situations where you think there is no conceivable way that a youth player could do any worse given the same number of opportunities.

He's simply that bad.

He's shocking! Seems like a nice lad and he tries but he's fucking shit...back up or not!

A couple of my mates are over for this game. Currently trying to bounce back with a visit to x in the city. Sounds like a place I wanna visit the next time I'm over for a game.

If they have got a few quid then tell them dreamers or moll teasers. X in the city is Aids central

The fullbacks are so bad we don't have a good outlet. The fact that Aly was barely marked says it all.

Toure is our 4th best CB

Gerrards touch was shite 1st half

Skrtel was boss

Mig needs to stop doing stuff for the sake of it

Hendo was boss so was sterling

Suarez tried to do too much

We need fullbacks as a priority

I blame Rodgers for the start and end result

We should send Cissokho back to Valencia, I'd rather the kids or a makeshift left back played there

Me too. It wasnt so much sending them out completely unbalanced it was failing to correct until we had conceded 2 goals which fucking irks me. Rodgers really fucked that up and in doing so cost us our outside chance in the league and the momentum and hope that goes with that... the jinxy prick...

If we play like that against Everton we will be 5 points off 4th position.

And Cissokho is visibly awful and whichever person scouted them should have their contract terminated immediately as they are clearly a Quisling.

If Rodgers makes that joke of a LB's move permanent, I will lose all trust I have in him currently.

How is he even a professional footballer? FFS

i'd love to know why they decided to unleash the "gerrard experiment" at this point in the season . Gerrard said himself he'd need some games to get use to it , can we afford for those games to be mid season ? Should you not do something like this from the start of a season after a summer of working on it in training and friendlies ?

And then why did Rodgers play with 2 in the midfield ? When i saw the team sheet i presumed Coutinho was going to be in there playing the advanced role , a role Rodgers is always banging on is the position for him . Sterling could have played right of the front 3 , suarez and sturridge could have moved around in the other 2 positions like they do anyway .

Managers are too fucking clever for their own good .

He makes mistakes like we all do, hes not stupid though, remember he was playing the forgotton man Flanno ahead of him, Rodgers knows, he should know not to start him again, he has to shuffle it up for the derby even if Flanno isn't back.

Just one point re johnson . Sterling is starting quite wide on the right so you can see that johnson isn't getting forward half as much as before. That was the best part of his game and somewhat excused his average defending . If we're going to stick with this then we'd be better off getting a more traditional right back who's first and foremost about defending .

Or maybe we could switch johnson to the left side as over there coutinho doesn't play as wide so the width come from cissohko who's obviously shite at attacking (and everything else) .

oh and again , our team as a whole is fucking useless at defending . This whole "we'll score more than you" is childishly unprofessional and you won't get away with it, especially against the big teams as our woeful record there shows .
I said last week that i get the feeling this is something i'll just have to accept under rodgers but fuck that , until he shows he is trying to rectify it i won't be fully convinced he has it to be a top , top manager .

The last two seasons, our loan deals (ShiteLB, Moses and Şahin) have been so poor ... We really have been poor in this regard

That's the way they turned out but on paper all were decent to very good and should have done better. No lost points from me for at least trying them, the loans saved us from the horrors of having bought them !

Toure is our 4th best CB

I don't agree with that at all. For a start both Toure and Skrtel prefer the right CB slot and Agger and Sakho the left. Yesterday our useless FBs and the lack of a real DM left our CBs terribly exposed. I won't be blaming our CBs for anything yesterday.

Jesus that second goal was fucking attrocious I dont think Ive ever seen a keeper come for a cross before and miss it by 2 feet with nobody challenging him, that was appalling. I dont know what Mignolet ate for his Chirstmas dinner but he has been diabolical since then, hes currently giving away about a goal a game. We can replace Cissokho but we are stuck with Mignolet, very very worrying

And now I'm a twat, fantastic.

What did my post say in FULL @Modo? You selected the bit that you needed to push your agenda and try and make me look stupid. In my book the twat stands.

I see you neglected to answer the question - again. Keep digging you troll.

Not really, some just can't handle the truth and feel insults is the way to go. When they get it back they start acting all high and mighty. Basically those who were most riled up were those who can't stand Lucas and feel the need to prove that we don't need him. I've stated it time and time again that our midfield without him is dysfunctional and that he does a very important job in midfield but some just focus on his persistent fouling etc.
But it's OK I mean, we don't need Lucas we need another DM.

Rubbish. I'm not a Lucas hater, in the slightest. I just get fucking bored with your trolling around looking for any snippet to push your snidey agendas.

Fuck off, just fuck off. As Peter says, you're probably a boss bloke but you post like a cunt here and it makes me not want to bother.

I find this high and mighty stuff tiring - just search your name and Cissohoko and see how you defended him as if he was a GOOD defender ... The only reason you get insulted - and everyone has tried to tell you this - is because of HOW you post, not WHAT you post. Besides one person ... well maybe slightly more ... we're all just footy fans who have an opinion that can be right or wrong. Talk like that, and I'm fairly certain people will post in a far less aggressive tone.

As for your 'Lucas is Ok' question - just check the match thread. Things like "FUCK" etc were pretty common ... People value the role he plays on the team.

I bet he hasn't mentioned this post? Doesn't fit with his Lucas is hated agenda.

Perhaps he should go to RAWK, they love Lucas there....

I think a lot has already been said about Gerrard being poor. I don't think he played well, but I don't doubt he can do well there either. Credit to Villa for pressing him so well. Gerrard needs to look at Didi and Xabi for how to draw a foul and shield the ball when under that kind of pressure.

If he did that well in the first thirty mins they would have tired themselves out. But I have no doubt he can get better and be far better than Lucas in that role.
