Post Match - Aston Villa (H)

Rodgers deserves credit for changing it around, but he shouldnt have to do it. We missed 100% on the match set up and thats down to him.

I disagree about Gerrard.

He wasn't very good in the first half but he was never given the chance to perform. Outnumbered and constantly being put under pressure by the Villa midfield. Henderson wasn't very good in that first 30 minutes too.

Poor by the manager trying to squeeze in Sturridge, Suarez, Sterling and Coutinho into the side. Brendan should have changed it after 10 minutes when he saw we were losing the midfield.

That's why we didn't win. It seemed obvious even after 10 mins that Rodgers had been out-thought by Lambert and the 'exciting' plan to play two lightweight midfielders who like to drift wide was a problem for us against the three hard-working midfielders employed by Villa. I think these things are far easier to see on TV than on the touchline so I'm surprised managers don't have someone giving them the bigger picture via an earpiece.

I honestly don't think that Lambert has anything to do with it.

I thought Gerrard was shite tbh, besides a few decent passes, improvement when he pushed further forward (surprise surprise) shouldn't really paper over poor decision making and terrible defensive play, constantly going to sleep at crucial times, him Cissokho, Toure and Johnson (who was better but still at fault again for a goal), were dire and they all need a kick up the arse.

I'd be surprised if Cissokho starts the next game. Team mates were constantly screaming at him, his confidence was shot, the fans were on his back and he was awful. Him and Moses should be sent back with a big "no thanks".

Saves me typing

He changed the formation up around 30-35 minutes ... Coutinho moved more central, Hendo to the left and we started to control the game ...

I think that was papering over the wide cracks in the formation hoping to stem the tide before half time. He got a bit lucky in that regard because we didn't look like scoring until we did and that was in injury time.

We have some of the biggest drama queens as fans when we dont win. People claiming that this result fuckes up our CL chances so bad that its gone. Christ. Facebook and Twitter are full of morons after we've dropped some points.

He changed things enough to change the game's momentum. He could have made a sub, but he wanted to wait till half time (Perhaps give Lucas more time to warm up as he was carrying a knock, I dunno). Footy is a lot about luck, so glad we had a little of it ... But we still dropped 2 big points today.

So all the queefs who want us to buy more new sexy attacking talent? Was that enough for you to realise that the defence, particularly the flanks and DM are far more pressing issues.

If you'd like to shut the fuck up about the next flying winger or attacker with a sexy name that would be boss. Thanks.

I guess a big positive from today is that Gerrard and Rodgers might decide that this idea about Gerrard becoming a DM at nearly 34 years old after a career as a world class attacking midfielder just isn't going to work and should stop now.

You are right but he wasn't really out thought by Lambert, he out thought himself if anything, the sub should of been made after 15-20 minutes and at the absolute latest just after they scored their first, there is nothing wrong with admitting a mistake and fixing it.

No one listened to me, they won't listen to you either.

Cissohoko is so shite, I'm starting to miss Phil Babb

You know what, that's a much better way of looking at it; Rodgers came up with a plan all by himself and (as my son told me, but I don't know if it's correct), Villa often play 4-3-3 so it wasn't a surprise.

Hopefully, but i wouldn't bet on it, Gerrard is and always will be a big problem for the manager from now on in, theres just no getting away from it, what happens when we sign another midfielder or 2?
