Post Match - Aston Villa (H)

I think next season will be Gerrard's last. He'll definitely play next season if we are back in the CL, but if he has a good World Cup and we haven't got back into the CL, then he might even consider retiring at the end of this season and allow Rodgers to focus on the future.

You know what, that's a much better way of looking at it; Rodgers came up with a plan all by himself and (as my son told me, but I don't know if it's correct), Villa often play 4-3-3 so it wasn't a surprise.

Had doubts aswell, but convinced myself all would be rosy and we would steamroller them.

Exposed badly today, its one thing having 4 attacking threats like that on the pitch but when you have no midfield and massive gaping holes in it you are going to have to score 3 goals minimum to win a game.

Feel sorry for our centre backs, they have 2 utterly shite full backs next to them and pretty much zero protection in front of them, its hard to blame them for anything other than a complete howler.

Lets see how far we can take that mate. Cissokho is so bad I miss Kvarme

Haha, Remember years ago when Cisshoko was rated? always links with him and a move to the PL, cant remember watching him but he must of been better than this, thankfully this will be one of his last games for us with Flanno and Enrique due back soon.

Post match thoughts are, our defence are fucking shocking, all 4 of them for me, they're utterly disorganised, and I presume that could be coached out. We have to get saved by the forwards most weeks, just like a kevin keegan team.
We all predicted the boss would cock it up if the tried to play 2 upfront, so he did it, and it went wrong. Sturridge need to get played as a wing forward.

As for the transfer window, fuck Salah off, we need to spend that money on 2 full backs.

No - Sturridge didn't screw this up ... He basically plays all the park anyways (not that I wanted him to start). Rodgers cocked this up by leaving Henderson and Gerrard by themselves to protect the middle - it was impossible from the minute Moss blew the kick off. Had we started with the team that started the 2nd half, we would have won the game.

@Hansern, Cissohoko is so bad, he makes me wish we had Tanner back there.

I remember seeing him play for Porto at OT and thought he was fantastic. God that was wrong.

Well played sir, well played.

What EVERY team should do was what Villa did -

a) leave Cissohoko free to get the ball
b) close down his passing options, so he had to pass backward (kill our attack), forward (and lose the ball) or just steam ahead
c) laugh as the ball returned to them one way or another.

He's so bad he makes me wish Gregory Vignal was our starting LB

How could we forget Paul Konchesky?!

(That's rhetorical, we know we've all managed to entirely block out the Hodgson era, so apols for traumatising everyone by bringing it alive again).

Yep Cissohoko was gash. Agree with LTW 100% about how Villa played him. It's 2 points dropped but I take some positives from that game. Hendo was very good I thought. Nice to see Gerrard bounce back after the abomination of a performance in the 1st half. I was throwing sushi at the TV at some points during the 1st 45mins. Glad Coutinho went off as well. He was shite as well.

January signings are needed!

So, sidetracking a bit now; tomorrow's Chelsea vs Utd match. I'm tending towards thinking a Chelsea win would be better for us now as the dropped points today have changed the dynamic and we are in a battle for 4th and nothing else.

Couthino needs a rest now. He's still a kid and should be managed like a young player.

Poor by the manager trying to squeeze in Sturridge, Suarez, Sterling and Coutinho into the side. Brendan should have changed it after 10 minutes when he saw we were losing the midfield.
I totally agree with that. The first 20-30 minutes of that game were amongst the worst I've ever seen a Liverpool team play. They were embarrassing, probably the worst display I have seen from any side this season. The lineup worried me, and it became obvious very quickly that they were cutting us to shreds. I understand giving it 15 minutes to try and settle, but I was calling for Lucas after 5.

So all the queefs who want us to buy more new sexy attacking talent? Was that enough for you to realise that the defence, particularly the flanks and DM are far more pressing issues.

If you'd like to shut the fuck up about the next flying winger or attacker with a sexy name that would be boss. Thanks.

So you are using the fact that Rodgers put our DM on the bench as an argument to buy a defensive midfielder?

Not that its any excuse but Villa are a good away side. 2 more points than us and the same amount as Everton/Man City.
Thats how Rodgers should have approached the game. Not in the overconfident way we did.

Funnily enough I'm not feeling to bad after that result. We were shite and deserved nothing from the game. Lets move on to the next one please.
