i don't know what the say about the defence anymore , there have been way too many shocking goals conceded to remember . Fuck even United have a better defence than us !!! I can live with goals conceded due to us being an attacking team and maybe being caught out but these aren't even that the type of goal . Apart from personnel changes i'm not sure how to sort it . To be honest i wouldn't be too upset replacing any of them in the summer , even skrtel .
Sturridge made the point that it was a hard game after the effort put in at the weekend which is maybe fair enough but cut out the shit mistakes and we won't make it so hard for ourselves .
We still need to improve our away performances, our last 2 away games have been real struggles against teams in the relegation zone . No away game in this league is easy but our form could really hurt us .
Good win in the end though , shows there is more belief and togetherness in the team. Another example of this , and i suspect it won't carry much weight with alot of you. Aspas - He hardly plays yet twice i saw him in the background showing how much he cared .He was going nuts near the end when sidwell won a soft freekick off of coutinho and again when the penalty was won . best pieces of action i've seen from him since he joined !

It's true that our defense is more exposed than most by the very aggressive team we put out.
But it's full of weak links, and that's been apparent for a while. You are always going to get caught out on the break the way we play, by intricate sexy football from time to time. Players will be forced to make decisions quickly and make the wrong ones, I can accept that. I can accept that since we look to spring counters, we'll eat the odd stupid pass that hurts us.
That's not how our defense fucks up though. apart from the spectacularly dumb shit we've seen recently, we routinely do the simple things badly. We are shit at defending anything in the air. We are shit at clearing loose balls. We often have players in completely useless positions defensively, even when we have time. Our CB pairings are all unconvincing, and our goalie doesn't command the box. We're still shit at set pieces. They're letting us down, and they can't always be bailed out. This team and Sami Hyppia walks the league.

in saying that , as much as it's wrecking my head , it's alot more interesting watching a team with a shit defence but class attack compared to the other way round which we've had in the past .

It was fortuitous in the end, though the setup for that was anything but. Kudos to Richardson and Sidwell for the lovely execution to put things in motion. Richardson recognized that an opening had availed itself once Skrtel was draw out to the sideline, and responded with a good run from Gerrard's blind side to provide an outlet for Sidwell. His partner in crime played the ball fast and well-weighed enough before the two Red shirts closed the noose on him. Gerrard was engrossed watching the action and playing the obvious passing lane, and lost sight of the runner altogether.
