Players you don't want?

Seeing that we are getting linked to so many players, what players would like us not to buy? Now that can be because of the rumoured price, injury record, age or that they are just crap.

Naby Kieta at £50m just seems way over the top, at £30m it's a fair price.
Virgil van Dijk at £50m sounds like a huge risk
Gotze said no to us already and seems to injury prone
The Ox, way too injury prone and not at £35m

we haven't been linked to that Turkish lad who was / is at Barca in ages.

feels wrong.

I agree about Van Dijk
50m is crazy for a player been out injured for a year.

50m should be world class.

Keita looks like being in the Alonso talent bracket. So 50 million is OK for him. Not sure about Van Dijk for 50 m with his injury record.

Not sure about van Dijk either. How is that Koulibaly fellow at Lazio?

I want no part of Oxlade-Chamberlain either.

He's been injured since mid-January, so not for a year. The 64 million dollar question is whether his injury is anything close to chronic, like Hendos – if it is, I would stay away, of course. Otherwise I think he's worth the big bucks. Koulibaly is good too, but a bit erratic at times, all things being equal I would prefer VVD.

Never wanted Oxla, and I'm increasingly worried about the Van Dijk signing at that price, though he does look quality. Goetze is a wee cock, and I don't think we have any place for him.

I have a horrible feeling that we'll pay massively for van Dijk, and he'll prove to be the next Lovren.

We should probably just sign Koulibaly (even though I just googled him for the first time this week).

And his price tag? I read somewhere it's around £60m. There must be classy German defenders that cost less than £40m?

World class players won't join us. They have to be proto-world-class. 50 mill is pretty much what that costs these days.

I'm not massively convinced by any of our targets so far TBH. I like the strategy of buying players for the first team rather than the squad, but the prices look astronomical at the moment.

50 mill is a lot but Van Dijk is quality. Nothing to suggest so far that his injury is chronic either.
A Matip - van Djik partnership would be boss.

I dont want Luan, Ricardo Rodriguez or spending 30 mill on Lanzini.

I'm pretty sure Koulibaly will cost more than VVD. Napoli are horrible to negotiate with.

Is that going to change though?

If Palace can afford to pay 30M for a player then we must 50M for us should also be achievable.

It is mad though.

You might be surprised by Palace's spending power / recklessness. Their nett spend over these last 4 seasons since their promotion to the league is actually higher than ours:
16/17: -52m euros (us: +5m)
15/16: -25m (us: -36m)
14/15: -28m (us: -52m)
13/14: -33m (us: -25m)

And that's with us in Europe in 2 of those 4 seasons.
