I work in an office. Sorry to disappoint you.

I'm still laughing at your last post.

Shame, humour me, what's so funny about suggesting an organisation who's taking a hardline approach on racism, doesn't employ a comedian who's going to use racist language?

There's nothing funny about that suggestion. Its not unusual for some people to totally miss the point of comedy, so Reggie wasn't a safe pick in that regard. But the PFA can hire whoever they like, they shouldn't be constrained in their choice because the FA punished a couple of players for racially abusing other players during games.

There's a lot of funny in your earlier post though, which is quite different.

The FA's decision to ban Luis Suárez for racially abusing Patrice Evra has been supported by the PFA head Gordon Taylor. Luis Suárez's eight-match ban for racially abusing Patrice Evra has been supported by the head of the Professional Footballers' Association as "a very strong message to the rest of the world".
The Uruguayan Liverpool striker is expected to appeal against the suspension, with his defence being that he was unaware that language acceptable in his country was viewed as racist in Europe. Liverpool reacted angrily to the punishment for the 24-year-old, who was also fined £40,000 by an FA independent regulatory commission.
Gordon Taylor, the chief executive of the PFA, said the sanction was an important message, especially after the outcry at Sepp Blatter's remarks – later retracted by the Fifa president – that racism on the pitch should be settled by a handshake.
Taylor said: "This was an independent commission experienced in law and football and they must have had compelling evidence, and it sends out a very strong message to the rest of the world.
"I understand the point about cultural differences but if you come to this country all players have to abide by not just the laws of the game but the laws of the land as well. Referring to someone's skin colour has got to be offensive – it's self-evident.
"No one can say the FA have ducked this issue and bearing in mind outcry in this country over Sepp Blatter's remarks it sends out an important message. This is a timely reminder for the FA, the PFA and the clubs to continue education programmes particularly for players coming from abroad: it is never right to make reference to a person's skin colour or nationality."

When asked whether it was a mistake to allow Hunter to perform PFA chief executive Taylor replied: 'No, no, don’t be silly. Are you serious?
'I think there were a few raised eyebrows over the comedian, but that is the sort of thing you can’t control. It was unfortunate.
'He is a professional comedian.
'It’s a difficult subject in football and with him not being fully aware of how emotive it has been in football, that was probably a difficulty for him.'
Looks like Reginald wasn't the only comedian at the awards

They strongly backed the FA's decision, and they're a public organisation, they should have been more careful. Go on, enlighten me to my humour.

This man knows all about racism

Eey-Oop, Ebony and Ivory!

This man clearly is too stupid to know anything about racism and should keep his big mouth shut.

What the fuck is a coconut?

Reg should get a gang of n***az run a train up on Gordon .....and Clark.......and Mystic

Haha. You couldn't make it up. Hmmm...did you not check out his routine first Gordon?
*adopts mindnumbingly boring nasal drone* 'Well we saw him on such shows as Mock the week and Graham Norton and he never used those words, so we didnt know he was a racist'

Hasn't he just. Ironically his first reaction was exactly the right one.

Turns out a similar thing happened at last year's PFA dinner when they booked a Nigerian comedienne - Andi Osho maybe? - and she used similar material (except, knowing her, she wasn't funny whereas Reggie D, who's brilliant, probably was this year). Maybe there's a message in this repeated mickey-taking by black comedians of the PFA's stance. Will they take any notice? Will they f'ck. Ditto the FA.

I can't wait for the other awards ceremony - when Brenden gets to open his envelopes.

Is it being televised?

Question about young player of the year

Couldn't they have given it to a player who's done brilliantly, and give the main prize to bale (if they were that intent on giving him something)

Benteke has had a fantastic season and has been (near enough) single handedly keeping villa out the drop.

I think it's shit that a player can be nominated for 2 awards. Young player should be for 23 and under who's having their breakthrough season (I. E. More starts than previous seasons).

Beginning of the end for Taylor then hopefully

For many, many years now he's been the highest-paid trade union leader in Britain. How he's managed to blag himself that deal is right up there with the Bermuda Triangle as one of life's great mysteries.

Indeed, how Benteke failed to win the Young Player of the Year award was beyond me.

Given how bias the press and players are/may be, perhaps it would be fairer to have a separate Best Foreign Player award instead - similar to what Serie A has (Best Italian, Best Serie A, Best Foreign Player). That said, given the % of foreign players in the league, you can understand why they won't be receptive to such options.
