We'll defo be in Europe next year. This is the best chance we'll have for a while
Yep. I'm actually worried that we'll do so well in the cups that it will distract us from the league.

I hope Klopp let's the kids/reserves get as far as they can & doesn't start playing a full straight team at some arbitrary point.

Indeed - That result was unexpexted but immense. I lost a pretty penny on that result - Mainy becausei I was sure Benteke would tear us a new one. Seems I was wrong! Hahahahahahhaha! Boss. A glass of raspberry leaf tea raised to you all 🙂 Red Astaire kitty took a hit but still in the black. We move on lads! 🙂

You beat your cat!!!!!!

You monster!!!!

We should have gone with Sturridge, he's not only our best striker but also most capable of replicating that dance in front of the prick's face.

Karius - 6 - I didn't spend too much time on forums throughout this match as I'd just got in and everything was a bit rushed. However scanning through them Karius wasn't even mentioned ... except on 6CM where he took a canning. It seems the opinions of some wolves are swaying most of the forum. He was nowhere near as bad as most seem to be making out.

Moreno - 4 - perversely he seems to be getting a fait bit of praise here. For me he was losing the ball in all the wrong positions and failing to get back. He failed to close down crosses and CP were obviously targeting him all game, and getting some joy. He may have done OK going forward but we need a solid defensive unit (and we were getting there with Milner) however when Moreno plays it's almost like he's not even a part of it. That was a bit unfair on Lovren who had to come rushing out to cover on a few occasions - and then naturally got done for speed by Zaha. Back Heels to no-one, trying Kenny's arse type shielding - an abysmal failure, and so on.

Lovren - 5 - suffered by association with Moreno. However that was crap defending too. He does tend to ball watch and subsequently isn't the best in 1-on-1 heading situations. We probably need better. In fact I'd be tempted to play Klavan in matches where aerial duels are a foregone conclusion.

Matip - 8 - In complete contrast to the above, superb.

Clyne - 7 - excellent as usual.

Henderson - 8.5 - I thought he had a superb match, topped by that magnificent pass for the assist.

Can - 7 - a mixed bag, he is certainly not as stable as Wijnaldum and I'd be tempted to say that his occasional maverick personality traits leads to surprisingly positive results. However overall he's 2nd best to Wij as far as having a positive effect on the team is concerned.

Lallana - 6.5 - not at his best today but certainly contributed.

Coutinho - 8.5 MoM - what more is there to say about him that everyone hasn't said in the match thread ? Maybe he can do more defensively (he lost out a fair bit over the far larger & more powerful Ward) and certainly he should have had TWO goals today. Both were there to put away.

Firmino - 7.5 - without being at his best he still ties it all together, and then produces as simple and as superlative a finish as you'll see.

Mane - 6.5 - could have done so much more. Two poor misses (well one was horrendous actually) and why doesn't he take his man on more ? He clearly had the beating of him all day and all night. I counted at least 4 opportunities to do so where he hung back and concentrated on possession (Klopp's instructions perhaps) ? IN two of those he started ahead of the FB and still didn't go for it.

Overall a 7/10 team performance.

Some of our football at the minute is ridiculously good

Quite strange for a team with a dogshit goalie, schocking defence, static slow midfield and a striker with the worst conversion rate in the history of football.... Not to mention an incapable (Yeah true!!) manager!!! And all that is non arguable cause its the opinion by the ones who is normally correct about everything!! Hahahaha

Damn we are strong! Making step after step and winning over all our ghosts....

Arsenal and Chelsea away.... Check
WBA and pulis.... Check
"Weaker" teams..... Check
Coming back when other takes lead.... Check
Protecting 1 goal leads..... Check
Be the team scoring corners at Selhurst park.... Check

Fantastic as we actually play other teams of the park also!!

What a wonderfully giddy post.

Odd to see Pardew being so positive about us ... "Some of their play was too quick and fast" - now that's what we need game in, game out ...

Overall:

Karius - It's tough to tell what we have with him. I don't really get the people who've given up on him - does he look great? Nope. Does he even look good? Nope, well the last 45 minutes were positive imo. So I'm hoping he builds on this and starts improving but time will tell.

Moreno - overall, better but he seemed to knock Lovren off his game. He had a 5 minute spell where you could tell he was having a mare but overall, better. A decent back up but I think he'll be off in the summer.

Lovren - I thought he handled Benteke well, but wasn't as good as he's been recently (I assume Moreno? But could have just been a shit game). great way to recover from that pass mind you

Matip - huge. No further comments needed.

Clyne - solid, dependable and assured.

Henderson - fantastic performance. He's really really taken this role as his own - and he controls the game well.

Lallana - subdued.

Can - his best game so far. He's slowly returning to his form from last year, which will give Klopp a massive selection headache.

Coutinho - He's the leader on this team, and with Mane on the other side, teams have to pick their poison. Just a fantastic, dominating performance.

Mane - subdued too ... Should have scored a few today.

Firmino - We have a problem with Bobby. Does he score enough goals? No, for a striker he doesn't. Does he make Mane and Coutinho that more dangerous and effective? Yes ... When those 3 start, we win and play football that is hard to control ... when he's forced to the flanks, we struggle ... Lovely goal.

The team is starting to believe again ... as are the fans ... Nice to have this after Rodgers' last year and the hiccups in the league last season.

Thought Karius was good tonight, very good in the 2nd half. Step in the right direction for sure.
Mane, Firmino and Coutinho all have 4 goals each so far this season. That trio is fantastic.

We are superb at the minute. It mad that Sturridge and Origi can't get a look in - Firmino and Lallana have been revelations in Klopp's system and Coutinho is a class apart.

I don't think we defended too badly. OK, their first was a howler and the second could have been better, but overall we did ok. Before the match, the prospect of Benteke with Karius in nets was filling me with dread. However, our centre backs did a great job on him and Karius did alright. Even got his first proper save in, which was good to see.

That was the kind of game we'd not have won in the last few seasons, so to go on and get the fourth was a great show. Always good sticking it to Pardew as well. You just know it eats at him.

Isn't it funny how Man Utd are the only team not to score against us in the league.

A feat that has only been achieved by teams from lower divisions in the cup this season.

As much as lovren mucked up the kick to allow this goal I don't quite h fee stand why Karius didn't come out arms in the air. It's likely he would have stopped the first ball at least, it was a really are age decision considering he was in his area.
He made a few decent stops and catches.
He's not had a good start at all, but as a young keeper who came with some serious recommendations I'm happy to stick with him for the season, we have to allow the younger players to grow into the team and become mainstays.

Moreno, played much better than he has previously more disciplined but wasn't tight enough for their goal. Funny cos normally he'd be right in there giving away a penalty lunging at the players legs!!

I kno Bobby can do no wrong atm but I just don't players taking their top off and getting a yellow it's really unnecessary.

Having said that great goal, countinho great, hendo/Can really good

Watford, soton and Sunderland before the quarter final v Leeds. The three prem league games with a weeks rest in between each game.
looking forward to a fruitful November.

Henderson was brilliant today. First half was magnificent. Always available for a pass, popping up everywhere, making things tick. Second half Palace did a much better job of pressing him and taking the initiative - but then THAT pass. Wow.

Great game from our captain.
