Should Suarez have passed an opportunity for his hat trick? Was Sterling right to be mad?

Just interested to see how people view the last goal.

If it wasn't for his hat trick then he definitely would have done. If we didn't have a 2 goal cushion in the 96th minute I think he would have done also.

Sterling did similar when attempting to get his hat trick vs Arsenal (except he missed) so he can hardly complain.

Suarez has been laying it on a plate for Sterling this season and they have a good bond, I think it will continue and you can begrudge the man from wanting to use the last kick of the game to get a hat trick!

I want him to be the highest scorer in PL history, so I'm happy he scored. He should really have passed though.

No. If there was still only one goal in it I'm pretty sure he'd have passed it.

This. I think winning is more important to him than personal achievements, he strives to win at all costs, even if that means missing a chance to get a goal himself.

Of course a two goal cushion so late on whilst on a hat trick makes all that null & void.

Sterling seemed more disappointed he didn't get the easy tap in than actually being angry at Suarez. He ran 30 odd yards and was expecting the pass. He just wanted to get on the score sheet.

I thought Suarez was going to pass it initially and he should have but I'm happy he got the hatrick.

Sterling did the something similar against Arsenal IIRC.

Like I said at the time, Sterling's presence meant the keeper wasn't solely focused one-on-one with Suarez, he played his part.

Well he threw his hands in the air - Then a split second later ran over to him and celebrated so I don't he was that annoyed.

If he weren't disappointed not getting a tap in at that age I'd be fucking amazed. He's still a kid despite being a professional player & having fourteen kids of his own.

I just liked the way he threw up his hands to his head as though we'd just missed a chance to equalize or something. Proper despair.

As said though, he was greedy himself in the Arsenal game and not in the dying seconds either, so he can hardly have any complaints. And even if that wasn't the case... it's fucking Luis Suarez. He can more or less do what he wants.

Luis has been serving up sitters all season for Sterling and Sturridge, so I think we can all understand why he went it alone this time (last minute, 2 goal cushion, hattrick opportunity). You can see the anguish in his face, as he toiled whether to pass or not. I think the aforementioned reasons were all going into his calculations as he ran up to the goalkeeper. And like the rest of us, he came to the right conclusion that he should go for goal.

If he had missed, it would have been the wrong option though. Ha.

Fucking egoistic bastard. By scoring on his own instead of getting him an assist and Sterling a goal he stole points from my fantasy team....

I love how he confuses the fuck out of Marshall.

Suarez:
" Maybe I could have tried for the pass to Raheem for the last goal," Suarez told Liverpoolfc.com from the tunnel of the Cardiff City Stadium after the game.

"But I went for the hat-trick for my confidence. I apologised to Raheem."

In November I made a policy of always having Suarez as my captain unless we weren't playing. It's paying off.
Yeah same here pretty much. Only problem is every other cunt has him as captain as well. Sometimes I take a gamble on Rodriguez. It doesn't usually work though.

Like I said in the match thread. There was no chance that Suarez was gonna pass it to him.

Like I said at the time, Sterling's presence meant the keeper wasn't solely focused one-on-one with Suarez, he played his part.
^ This.
Sterling's run ensured that the keeper could not commit to rushing at Suarez. Instead, he backed off and this ultimately created enough space for Suarez to gamble putting it to the keeper's left. Effectively, Sterling should have an assist, but of course he doesn't. That's where stats break down and don't show the whole picture.
