I'd like to explain to the Liverpool fans on here why we are reluctant to give their team credit.

First, the playing field hasn't been level wrt refereeing decisions. City haven't had any favourable decisions prior to the last 1-2 games, Liverpool have had several such decisions influencing the final results of some games. Had the playing field been level you would have been 8-9 pts clear and not 14 with a game in hand. In other words, knowing what happened last season, and that Laporte and Sane will be back soon, we would have stood a chance to win the league again.

Second, the playing field hasn't been level wrt the fixtures schedule. The Christmas schedule was blatantly weighted in Liverpool's favour.

Third, the media is full with Liverpool supporters who have been reluctant to give creidt to City. Some journos have gone to great lengths to criticise the club, its owners, etc.

Fourth, it's a myth that Liverpool fans were giving credit to City during the last two seasons. They were/are constantly talking about us being financially doped by human rights abusers etc.

Fifth, the attack on the coach was infuriating and your club and the local authorities did feck all to identify and punish the attackers.

I think it's a myth that there's a myth about Liverpool fans giving credit to City during the last two seasons.

It’s utter bollocks of course.

The media have had their tongue up City and particularly Pep’s arse for ages.

They were a great team - still are top quality - but their Manager & fans have sucked in too much of the fumes of their own hype and with a mixture of hubris & exceptionalism simply expected the team not to diminish as players got older and weren’t replaced or that anyone would put up a sustained challenge.

We should have seen the fume fans descent into their self-created paranoid delusion earlier - they were at it with the boing of the Champions League anthem early doors - calling out how UEFA were against them.

Just think how much their heads will explode when they realise that they are the architects of their own downfall - we are the Frankenstein’s Monster they created - they created the circumstances that mean we have to be nigh on perfect at winning every game to win the league.

They created the mentality, the desire, the will and the pragmatism that fuels the current Liverpool side.

I’d like to thank City for that.

But mostly, I’d like to thank the fume for their comedic attempts at getting to grips with it all.

To be honest, should thank city for creating the current Liverpool. Never would have as a fan thought at any point we would have got 97 points and CL in the bag without even mentioning this season. Their constant whining fans, FFP breaking and money laundry spending help mound this current lot.
They should take a bow because without them 90pts would be more than enough in most seasons but they forced us to a whole new level.
They left last season thinking this lot pushed every last inch they got and gave everything but still finished sort by a point. They ain’t gonna come back from that with loser Klopp.
Yet went to Madrid, won the biggest cup in football and started the season with the risky strategy of pushing back 4 further. Shows the mentality of the lot to focus what’s needed to win the league rather than look at 97pts as the most you can do.
Like the rest of the teams like united and City, without focusing on what they can learn from us, they complained of luck, injuries VAR evening things. If they take a step back for a moment look like Chris Wilder, they may improve but instead choose to be bitter around trivial rivalry. Even better for us...

This is worthy of the Fume itself.

It's risible to talk about 'taking a step back' like Chris Wilder, when they've won the title four times in the past 6 seasons. They have nothing to be bitter about

Rubbish, if it’s purely related to that then
United haven’t won the league in 6yrs so what they bitter about without stating the obvious?
City and united have had every advantage in the last 10yrs so there really is nothing to moan about.
Take a step back and learn from the good bits of an opposition, best teams do that.

1. Nonsense. Lazy, boring and nonsense.
2. Nonsense. Not even subjective, for goodness sake.
3. Nonsense. Pep and that team have been getting all of the credit they deserve for years now.
4. Nonsense. They're a magnificent team and most of us can accept that. Pointing out how much money they've spent to get there and all that FFP shite they've gotten away with doesn't change that the team they've put on the field for several years now has been other-worldly.
5. Understandable to hold that against us. Doesn't affect anything that happens on the pitch though, so...

I don't agree with number 3. To a certain extent number 4 too. People did talk about FFP etc. but at least on here people recognised how good City were.

They were a phenomenal team. That spine of Kompany, Fernandinho, D Silva & Aguerro in their prime, is as good a spine of a football team as you’ll see in modern football.

That they were all allowed to get to their mid-30’s without being effectively replaced (bar Silva with de Bruyne) is great.

What’s even better is, in Van Dyke & Fabinho we signed the two players that would keep them miles ahead of the rest for another 5 years.

I can’t fucking wait till we sign Mbappe and leave them looking at a team built around John Stones, Rodri, Phil Fodden and Gabriel Jesus.

Bollocks. Carragher, Souness, Owen, Hansen, Redknapp, McAteer, Nicol all Liverpool players and pundits in the media favor Liverpool.
We chatted shit about FFP all year they were crushing it.
We attacked their coach and the police did nothing.
As a Liverpool fan I don’t give a fuck about any of it. But to deny it is stupid.

That is not all media. That is former Liverpool players in the media. I also think Carragher and Souness while biased are very even in their analysis.

Of course people talked about FFP, it's a valid thing to mention. I remember plenty on here also praising how good Man City were too.

I never disagreed with number 5.

Cobblers. They praise or criticise Liverpool depending on what Liverpool do out there on the pitch. It's no surprise that Citeh fans make a penny-in-the-slot assumption about them which the facts don't support. What's more of a surprise is to see you following suit.

Yeah, there's no point denying some level of media bias for Liverpool when so many high-profile people in media and broadcasting are Liverpool fans or at least have quite a favourable view of them.

There's also the likes of Savage and Henry Winter who aren't fans, but do clearly like Liverpool.

Look at some of the regular TV and radio pundits, there's a quite incredible Liverpool connection:

Souness
Redknapp
McManaman
Lawrenson
Owen
Carragher
Thompson
Murphy

So we are undoubtedly well-represented as a club, but I suppose the flip side is that while not many other clubs are, the rest are united in their overriding dislike of Liverpool.

Is it really just my bias or are we actually much easier to like?

Again, could be bias, but I always felt Arse's invincibles were media darlings not just because they were great to watch but also because their direct competition were a bunch of cunts.

A Liverpool connection (which those guys obv.have) doesn't automatically mean pro-LFC bias. For that charge to stick there would have to be an excess of pro-LFC comment in what they say which was undeserved by what they were actually commenting on. I don't see or hear that from any of them that I can think of.

I don't really care about the media, who gush about good football usually like they did with City for three fucking years, but it's pretty obvious it's a numbers game. We've heard enough crap from blues, mancs and chavs for years, it's called being high profile ffs.

A couple of idiots connected with bottles (rather than cans) to crack a window. Was it stupid? Yeah, but so was announcing what way they were going in. In any event it wasn't the harrowing PTSD causing experience they make out, and what would/should the police do?

It's been proved that they've breached FFP before, they've given themselves sponsorships galore and in the 3 and a bit of years of Pep they are nearly £500m net spend. Of course we talk about FFP, it's blindingly obvious to all but the blue part of Manchester what they do. Despite that they are where they are with an aging first team.

Not sure why people are ready to legitimise any of the cries of manc idiots?

Nobody cares about your bias, or what you think.

Yes, I suppose there is often an extreme negativity with LFC fans as pundits, when things aren't going well.

And some are just weirdly bitter and negative when proffered any opportunity to be so, cf Ray Houghton, Ronnie Whelan and Steve Nicol

Ian St. John was very negative about the club after Roy Evans was eventually eased out. Also little Michael Owen never shows any signs of feeling any warmth towards the club where he made his name.

Nah I've seen a lot of Nicol this season (and last) and he is reservedly pro-Liverpool he just doesn't want to go overboard but quite clearly it's there.

Owen has been eulogising us all this season !
