Indeed, but I can see it being a scruffy single-goal win for us. Even that bunch of nomarks wll raise their game for this one.

They seem to be capable to adjust their game to the opposition. We used to do that as well. It allways gave hope when we kept strong opposition at bay and felt hopeless when we adjusted to Wigan and Burnleys level.

Last season some dude on RedCafe started a "We should have signed Klopp" thread. This was before the CL win, and the reactions were as expected (Serial looser etc). However they picked up on it again this season, and there is some really interesting posts related to why so many of them surprisingly not would have taken Klopp in a heartbeat (To be fair quite a few would take him also). Reading this make me want to smash these guys for real.

I would seriously rather be shit than have that chump in charge with his rehearsed “quirky” quotes and cringeworthy interviews.
[/bcolor]
[bcolor=#fafafa]This is not because he is Liverpool manager, it’s because he is an awful human. [/bcolor]

[bcolor=#fafafa]- He’s done a good job for them but no-never for me. Final season collapse in Germany was spectacularly bad and that reminds me of how bereft he became for ideas under severe pressure. A fair weather builder who has made good from an average squad and had some strong strategic buys.[/bcolor]

- Mourinho won more for us than Klopp has for Liverpool, and he wasn’t exactly Mr Popular and we found him cringeworthy at times. I don’t know much about Klopp’s private life, but even when he was at Dortmund I couldn’t stand him. I don’t understand why he’s seen as such a God on here.

What has he won besides Champions League. We have been bad for last 6 years, but still won more.

[bcolor=#fafafa]Klopp is a fantastic manager, without question. But the other side to his success was the patience of Liverpool in holding onto him despite finishing 8th in his first season and lack of silverware for three successive seasons, and they are now reaping the rewards. Would he have survived at United for that long with the same results and no silverware? I seriously doubt it. [/bcolor]

- His sentiments are fine but sadly unrealistic in football's modern age.

[bcolor=#fafafa]Liverpool's x factor isn't Klopp - it's Anfield. [/bcolor]

I always liked Klopp at Dortmund, but if he then went on to manage a club I fucking despise and win their 6th European trophy, while my one team was floundering, I'm sure I would find it very easy to hate him, and also pretend I always had.

We played at Anfield under Rodgers and Hodgson

Don’t remind me. I was there for Wolves 1-0 defeat made worse by Roy’s remarks that it was a 6 pointer and this was our level now and we needed to reset expectations.

Fuck off!!

I can only imagine how much worse Piedro’s night was having to endure the same while sitting next to me listening to my dribble. 😀

I thought you both came as papercuts only?

Its not actually possible to listen to dribble, except maybe the splash as it hits the ground.

Likewise it is not possible to watch drivel

So were you dribbling or driveling or both?

It is possible to watch drivel.

I watched Jordan Peele's "Us" a few months ago.

"What has he won besides Champions League?". Classic.

He won quite a few trophies at Dortmund too, I think that should count.

In any case, it's not like United haven't explored multiple domestic/ non-domestic trophy-winning and non-trophy winning appointments with LVG, Moyesie, Mourinho and now Ole, and none seem to have quite done the trick, despite picking up a couple of Cups.

Mourinho has won everything, everywhere, won them the Europa Cup and he still got sacked. So what does that even prove anyway?

I love the way they talk down the CL. As if they are above it when every other big club sees it as the pinnacle of success. But then they have to because to accept it as equal or above a League title would put us back above them on 24 to their 23. Poor dears. They just can't handle the truth.

Win the league this year and avoid City winning the CL and there will be no debate left.

What does City winning the CL have to do with us and United?
Nothing. And a CL is worth more than a league title. Much as the league title means much more to us now, because it has been sooooooo long, to the football world, to the players, the CL is the ultimate tournament. It is the one they dream of winning. In other words, we're still ahead of united because you get 1 point for a league title and 3 for a European cup as any fule knows.

I love rising the Utd and City fans at my soccer club when they claim the league is a bigger trophy and the sign of a better team expecting me to agree only for me to laugh and say, the CL is the biggest trophy in football won the best side in the world. They get so angry. Ha ha. 😀

Largely agree, but the value I put on winning the league goes a bit beyond the above. To me achieving consistent success in the league is how a club builds itself (or rebuilds itself, in our case) into a dynasty and that's very much what I want for LFC, not just a few years' temporary kudos.

I'd prefer to win the league every single time. The best team in the country wins the title. That's always first.

My best memories at Anfield have been European nights. All of them. It's just better. Even memories of sitting round the radio as a kid and imagining what The Stadium of Light looked like (before Sunderland ruined it for everyone) stuff like that, it just felt so much bigger and more exciting. Think about the players too, you think Mane, Bobby and Salah would rather have won the English league or the CL when they were starting out?

Obviously right now I want us to win the league, but that's because of three decades of disappointment. I'm sure the players do too at this stage, to cement their legacy. But if this monkey is ever off our back I'd still always rather do well in Europe.

It is a Fantastic Stadium. Good atmosphere, with some really crazy Portuguese grandmothers trying to affect the game through some fascinatic witchcraft as well!!

When we went there and beat them 4-1 in '84? I listened to that too... They made it sound like a modern-day Colloseum, didn't they? Was extra made up when Ronnie banged in 2 of the 4!
