Why are people being grumpy about this thread? I look at it differently altogether. I think he is a cracking player and would love us to sign him. What harm if it's bumped when a bit of paper gossip links us to him?

I really hope we can pull off this signing.

Then it's just going to hurt more for you when we don't get him.
 
If my fragmentary Dutch hasn't let me down though, that seems to suggest he's a tad more likely to sign for Tottenham, not least because he and Vertonghen are pals.

It says that Spurs hope that the relationship with Vertongen will influence him to choose London . It could just as easily say that we hope that the relationship with Suarez and Agger will influence him to choose Liverpool .
It does say that both clubs are watching him every week . No actual quotes from anybody real though just an anonymous tip giver .
 
He's bound to sign for Spurs rather than us.

Champions League and London being deciding factors. We'll prob just try and get Sigurdsson when he becomes surplus!
 
One of the reasons imo that we are still struggling to catch the top teams is our lack of World class talents.

In that light, are there even the slightest of chances for us to get our hands on a player like Eriksen we should go all in.

The few times we've done this it's mostly been a success for us too. Alonso, Masher, Torres and Suarez.

Why I get the luxury argue with regards to our defensive gaps I believe there are some players we should always thrive to get our hands on. Eriksen beeing an obvious candidate.

Why would Spurs go for him though? Holtby, Dempsey, Sigurdsson all play in that position.

He'll sign for us
 
We'll only sign him if Suarez leaves.

And even then it's only a chance.

We're not exactly rich and the attack isn't the priority.
 
He's an advanced playmaker, a position where we are not exactly smothered in talent.

Gerrards position mostly but besides him whom have we got? Suso?

Doubt very much he's ready to play week in week out for the next couple of Seasons despite his obvious talents.
 
Well, it's now where Suarez plays when Sturridge is on the pitch.

I wouldn't call Gerrard an advanced play-maker any more.
 
We have a limited budget as it is. No doubting his talent, but I'd be pretty Pissed if we used the majority of it on him when the defensive side of our team should be a priority. Plus can only see that signing even being thought of if we get rid of allen or Henderson. Definitely can't see rodgers giving up on allen yet at all.
 
If we get 12-14 mill for Carroll, then spending that money on Eriksen is a no brainer.
Look, Sturridge will not play every game because of his explosive pace, nor will Coutinho as they'll be out from time to time with minor strains and what not.

Its all about building a quality squad that can challenge on 4 fronts.

A quality BALANCED squad. Buying eriksen isn't going to provide more steel in midfield. We need steel and a quality centre half more than we need eriksen.
 
Obviously it needs to be balanced. Eriksen wont be our only signing, if he comes here.
 
There's no denying that he would be a luxury purchase.

If the defense and DM was addressed first then I wouldn't be against it, but before then I think it would be a gross miss-allocation of resources.
