Tancredi Palmeri‏@tancredipalmeri Del Piero-Liverpool:apparently Liverpool offer arrived too late!Seems Alex turned down Liverpool offer cause already gave his word to Sydney

According to @tancredipalmeri Alessandro del Piero may yet be answer to the "football intelligence" Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers wants.

Sydney FC have concluded another meeting with Alessandro Del Piero and are “optimistic” he’ll choose them ahead of Liverpool.

The Australian side met with the Juventus legend and his brother Stefano Del Piero in Turin amid reports Premier League giants Liverpool have come in with a new proposal.

“I am optimistic,” said director Tony Pignata. “He hasn’t signed anything yet, but the player is willing to join us.

“Liverpool are a great club, but Australia is a great country,” he was quoted as telling Sky Sport Italia.

Del Piero turns 38 in November and is a free agent after his contract expired with Juventus.

If he's any sense, he'll play for us rather than idle away his time in Sydney. He could join them at 40 and get as much out of it.

If he's any sort of desire to play left, he'll join us.

I can't believe anyone is excited about this

Anita, he's both a superb player and a true professional who could be our Gary Mac Mk.II. Given that we need someone to tide us over at least until January, he's the best we could have hoped for by a country mile.

You dont say 'Hes old' or 'Hes past it' or 'Hes not what he once was' when Kaka or Del piero are in the offing.
You sign em and say 'WE GOT FUCKING DEL PIERO......YA KNOW DEL PI-fucking-ERO AT LIVERPOOL'
Some things are too sexy to not be excited about.

Also the deadline for submitting the 25-man squad for the EPL was 5pm today.

If Del Piero signed, I'd watch every single minute that we was on the pitch for us. If he doesn't sign, I go back to solving equations and hoping one of you losers waste 90 minutes of your life instead so I can just read your match ratings then go back to my equations.

Since you are supposedly a mathematician, there's an obvious way to simplify that problem.
