New vice captain

Hansern

Thinks he owns the place

Who will be our new vice captain now that Trent is leaving? Salah, Robbo, Macca, Konate, Ali? Any others?

I think Rurik correctly made the point how important it is having leadership in the middle of the park that can bollock and direct both the defence and attack when needed.

I would probably give it to Mac Allister as a result. There will be more forceful personalities around but leadership also doesn't mean shouting the loudest. Mac plays anywhere for the team, works hard, has a World Cup under his belt and plays most weeks, so he would be my pick. I would say it might keep him from wanting to play in Spain, but it's not the time to make that claim with a straight face.

It's a valid question, but I think recent history shows us that when we lose our vice captain, the captain follows shortly thereafter. Therefore, while, as I say, the question is valid, the timing may not be.

Let's answer this question, as the second half of a two part question, in May or June.

Virgil will be our captain next season.

I like the idea of Macca. Think he would really step up and be a great addition to the leadership group.

I feel like big Ibou is another one who could step up and Dom - all captains at Int’l level aren’t they?

Maybe that’s what MO’s holding out signing a new contract for - ever since Klopp went out of his way to give the captaincy to absolute anyone other than Mo!!!! 😜

If Mo wants it he should offer Virgil a scrap. Show it live on LFC TV for a £5.

I'd give it to Big Bad Dom. He's still integral to our midfield, but somewhere along the way he mislaid his cutting edge in terms of goals and assists and it seems to be something of a confidence issue, so giving him a leadership role *might* help him rediscover those things, plus I was first majorly impressed with him as captain of Hungary when they taught England a football lesson at Wembley a year or two back.

Trent should never have had it in the first place IMHO. One of Klopp's rare missteps.

Why is this even a discussion?

It's Mo.

It should have been Mo all along, but Klopp gave it to the kid to persuade him to stay.

He's the Mo-user in the team.

Macca. It's Macca. He's just outright the best candidate.

Forwards for the most part are shit captains, same as keepers.

Our captain is already a defender

Give it to Macca and watch him fucking go
