We have 4 senior midfielders competing for 3 starting places, over the course of a year thats going to leave us very short when suspensions and injuries pile up in the second half of the season. If we are playing in Europe then we need at least 1 more midfielder, Gerrard Allen and Lucas seem to pick up a lot of injuries

Well that's not true of Lucas (injuries) but I agree with the rest of those comments.

Consider the type of player M'vila is. We don't need another defensive midfielder and we're not playing in Europe atm.
Like I said, we need attacking players.

I think our 'Clean Sheet' record would disagree with where you think our priority should be. However what we actually need is 4 or 5 players (LB, RB, CM, 'Winger', backup Striker capable of playing #10) by next season, though which is the imperative for this season (to help us win the title or at worst secure Top 4) is the question. For me stopping the way we leak goals, not scoring them, is the priority.

By all acounts, I dont how many guys know this but Lucas is not a problem. Just watch Oldham game and as soon as Gerrard comes off...it was relatively easy for us to break down their attacks with the midfield of Hendo and Lucas. After all this, I would still say if this is an opportunity to get a player such as M'villa we should get him and present another prostitute for him in the deal

The one word that stands out in your post is ..... Oldham.

Re. the disciplinary record. It is not surprising, considering his upbringing, but many young lads can be turned around when removed from an environment of that nature and given proper guidance, targets and instilled with ambition. What he did when he was 20/21 isn't of a major concern since it didn't involve physical violence/corruption.

As regards the 15 yo prostitute, he was a young lad himself at the time (19 right?) so a 15 yo that when dressed up looks more like 18/19 is an easy mistake to make. It's not like she will be announcing her age - unless that is what the client has specifically asked for. In Europe mature 14/15 yo can easily be mistaken for 18+ whereas in Asia a 21/22 yo could often easily pass herself off in the West as a 15/16 yo ! Blurred lines indeed.

*books flight to asia*

Its called an agenda. Brendan favours Lucas, so don't worry he isn't going anywhere.
Dont want him going anywhere as he's a good squad player. Just on the bench for someone better. Hardly an agenda just a opinion.

"mummy when I grow up I want dirty men to finger me before I turn 16" Every child's dream. No to the nonce.

Well if Brendan played Lucas in DM like he's supposed maybe we wouldn't have let in 3 goals.

Billy Liddell ‏@Liddellpool 24m #LFC want to buy Yann M'Vila immediately with a permanent deal acc to @FabRomano21

I can't see us selling Lucas even if we get M'Vila, if we do Suarez is surely off in the summer.

Have we never conceded 3+ goals when Lucas played DM?

OK maybe I'm exaggerating but throughout the game I was thinking that Stoke had too much space in the middle. Henderson did well but Lucas looked a bit lost in offence and so did Gerrard in defence.
It's like that Southampton game last season when Allen played instead of Lucas and we got dominated in midfield in the first half.

Lucas has played DM in a good many games where the midfield has looked absolutely fucking clueless so littering the forum with "what ifs" about Lucas' role today is a bit rich.

Yep. Crucially he's a reasonable DM but he's not really got the presence or the all round game to make himself an untouchable, and people shouldn't be made to feel like uneducated dimwits for suggesting as such. Whatever he does off the ball and however quietly efficient he is, he's a good squad player but we're clearly lacking dominant, confident presence in the middle of the park.
