Cant see him playing so negative at home. If it was at anfield it would be another story. They'll come at us at stamford bridge. My main worry is that they're very good from set pieces.

Quite possibly, and my guess is that's what lies behind the things he says about us as well. He badly wanted the LFC job before Rafa got it, and has never forgiven either the club or Rafa himself for missing out.

I haven't seen the evidence myself but it was widely reported at the time. It could all have been paper talk but the reports weren't confined to fan sites.

Don't really think the timeline is significant. He could well have had irons in both fires and pressed ahead with one when he got an early brush-off from the other.
