Pretty bloody impressive turnaround don't you think. Ten Premier League games gone and he's only lost two (Chelsea and Spurs away) - 22 points from a possible 30 (WlwDWwlWWw).

Bruce managed to cobble together just 11 from 14 games.

They were robbed against Everton with a terrible penalty decision by Webb for that draw. Sessegnon could play for any side in the Premier League and McClean's becoming one of my favourite players to watch. Boundless enthusiasm and energy, like our very own Bellamy.

It's weird that Fathead Bruce signed McClean and then decided not to play him. He's been Sunderland's best player recently imo.

I'd like to hear from Ross as to how he's managed to do this without spending any money.

Thanks.

I reckon he takes a few lines of speed before his first day of training and it filters down to everyone else. He'll be gone in 2 years when Ellis Short stops buying him lucky bags and ice cream of a sunday!!

players should be ashamed that they can peform so badly for one mananger and so well for another.
[/quote]

Yes, because all managers are equal. The only thing that differentiates one from the other is the size of their transfer budget.

I don't agree with ross that managers make no difference, but that wasn't my point. the point I'm making is the difference in peformances is STARK which leads me to believe under a dead man walking the players aren't giving 100% because they know the mananger is for the chop, fair enough I guess, but the fans deserve every ounce of effort seeing as they travelling for miles and paying shit loads of money to see you play.

Fat head was a poltroon tactically– he actually said once that he doesn't really bother with all that tactical stuff, but he had assembled some decent players. MON has done a brilliant job to take advantage of what's there, and applying those sneaky footballing innovations like 'tactics' has helped things.

That's a bit strange, you would think that someone who has played under Ferguson would understand the importance of tactics.

I wish we had taken a gamble on McClean. He was cheap, talent, determination, strength and youth. He was exceptional for Derry City last season and would have given us a viable option on the left, although it is debatable whether he would have got the same opportunities at LFC. The above also goes for a lad we recently sold to Burnley, a left back, Daniel Lafferty.

Most teams have a bounce in form after getting rid of a manager. Like we did last season.

Getting Gardner more involved in the starting XI, Sessegnon given more license to thrill and McClean given a 1st team breakthru with a run of games etc. He'd certainly done more than simply replacing Bruce as manager. Seems like he decided to save up for the summer transfer window. Will be interesting to see who he bring in. The Kevin Davies interest and Kyrgiakos + Bridge loan moves has got to be short term plans, surely?

When we got rid of Rafa and appointed Roy?

Always defended him on here and wanted him here the summer we got Podge.

but could he manage a top , top team ? There always seems this doubt when it comes to him . To me he always seems more suited to a team like sunderland .

He's a good manager. Most Irish fans just hate England, I can never get my head around why you hate practically every Irish player/manager.

Heard a lot of good things about Lafferty. It should be Michael O'Neill's number one priority to get him on board in the NI set-up because NI have been crying out for a decent left-back for years. Unless, of course, he insists he wants to play for the Republic, then that's a different matter.

He did alright at Celtic.

Most people were creaming themselves about Owen Coyle this time last year.

Big difference between Coyle and O'Neill is that O'Neill has won things, got teams to cup finals etc. Coyle hasn't.

LOL at comparing O'Neill with Coyle.

I could see your point if you were comparing Coyle with Brendan Rodgers. But O'Neill has been around and consistently done it for years improving every team he's been at, from Wycombe were he had zilch, to Aston Villa were he had a bit to spend.

I think O'Neill is on the phone to every potential N.Ireland player. On the subject of Derry City, there are two other young fellas, who, with the right application could make it in the English leagues, McBride a centre half and McLaughlin another left winger. However whether they set themselves apart like McClean (sighted at 5am running the hills around Derry when he trying to get into the first team) remains to be seen.

I'll infer from that that you expect this resurgence to be a temporary blip then.
