Wonder how this contract clause became known to us if it wasn’t to other suitors.

Probably the relationship we're building with Salzburg ... hopefully the start of a 'farm club' where we can send our youngsters over & we can buy their budding youngsters.

The Daily Fail has been busy telling all and sundry that Man U was tracking him and he was valued at at least £20 million.

After our match against them we've been in contact with the club apparently, as early as last month we've been having a discussion with them. There's a twitter post saying that we stepped up our chase as soon as we found out there are more clubs chasing him.

Apparently the two clubs are very close, & we have basically copied their training ground, & so have been very close for years, with klopp being personal friends with the dof also.

Also said that we've been monitoring mini for a few years.

Reading between the lines it sounds as if we've been tipped off to Utd having a strong interest & Salsburg have told us his release fee to help us get the player.

[article]Liverpool’s new state-of-the-art training facility currently under construction in Kirkby drew inspiration from Red Bull Salzburg’s pioneering Academy complex.

The clubs collide in a defining final Group E encounter to decide their Champions League fates on Tuesday night, but are anything but adversarial off the pitch.

The European champions and their Austrian counterparts have a collaborative relationship based on the mutual respect of each other’s vision.

Both subscribe to the notion that a club can only be successful if there is a singular blueprint at play across all departments and are devoted to youth development.

And so when the Premier League leaders began sketching designs for their combined 9,200sqm first-team and academy base in Kirkby, they visited Europe’s premier sports centre to study some of their innovation.

The influence of Red Bull’s academy, home to 400 talented footballers and hockey players, can be seen in the crisp, modern layout of Liverpool’s project with the floor-to-ceiling glass windows inviting lots of natural daylight.

The hydrotherapy area, large indoor sports hall, open-plan recovery rooms and specialist sports rehabilitation suites mirror the innovation seen at the Austrian side’s youth base.

Liverpool’s £50m facility, due to be open before the start of the 2020-21 campaign and overseen by London architect firm KSS, is not the only one to have been influenced by Salzburg’s set-up.

The FC Bayern Campus, unveiled in August 2017, also extracted cutting-edge ideas from it.

“That just proves that we’ve got a lot of things right, because both Liverpool and Bayern Munich have taken inspiration from here for their complexes,” sporting director of Salzburg’s academy Frank Kramer told The Independent.

“Football in many ways is about collecting ideas and we are open in this way for sharing information.

“We cannot compete with Liverpool in terms of their status, we’re far away from being at their level, but it’s positive that concerning development and a youth environment they believe there are things we’ve done really well that is helpful.

“It’s good, but we shouldn’t feel special about this. When we need inspiration, we go somewhere else too. We search for the highest level and that gives us some orientation and it’s the same for them.

“They’re good guys, super smart. It’s finding out simple things like how many gyms to have, how big you suggest certain spaces should be, how many locker rooms to have, what worked for us – you need a basis.

“For example, if you’re building a house, you need to see what else is out there, what is possible.

“There’s nothing that’s new in football. It’s getting the best you can from everywhere and making it the perfect fit for your environment, which is what they have done and it will be amazing.

“The Liverpool guys are great to work with – Jürgen Klopp, [sporting director] Michael Edwards and [Academy manager] Alex Inglethorpe. Unbelievable football brains!”[/article]

The head of football operations for Redbull is apparently a huge LFC fan.

Yes he is but what's the commercial sense selling to Liverpool over Man United if the Mancs were going to offer £20m plus? The approach would have been sometime back before any other club showed any real interest. Also, Hwang is a good option, and I doubt his clause is any higher. £7m is pittance to an elite club like Liverpool

This is great news from a marketing point of view. First Africa, now Asia, we have South America with the boys from Brazil. I hear the USA are now producing some great youngsters, why the fuck FSG have failed to get any of them. Imagine having an American super star in our squad....the money coming in ......

Name 2 American superstars that will get in to the LFC squad? I'll give you one, the guy Chelsea signed, but who else from the USA could even make our bench?

I dont actually know, i just put it out there to think about that maybe we should aim to really go get the next best US player if and when he becomes available. I was surprised that the ine you refer to went to Chelsea, would hav thought our American owners would have tried and got more involved to get him.

The view from Japan on Liverpool transfer target Takumi Minamino

Liverpool are set to wrap up a January transfer deal for Takumi Minamino and here is the view from Japan on the Salzburg street - From The Echo.

We asked the Official Liverpool Supporters Club of Japan for their thoughts on Minamino ahead of his switch to Anfield.
Thanks to Itatsu for answering our questions...

How does Minamino rank in Japan's national team? Is he the best player?

"Definitely one of the best.
"After the big era for Japan (Honda, Nagatomo, Kagawa, Hasebe) he is one of the leading players of current Japanese international team."

What will the reaction be like in Japan if Minamino does sign for Liverpool?

"It would be fanatical. Japanese media tend to focus [on] home country player. Media exposure of LFC in Japan must be jumped up. Especially, this is first time for Japanese player to join mega club in England after Kagawa. "Most of media will pay maximum attention to him."

What do you think he could bring to Liverpool's team?
"He is a passionate player, so I think he can bring a new wind to existing players. Also, he has the hardworking nature that [Jurgen] Klopp loves. He can improve more under the manager."

Liverpool are aiming to seal a deal for Takumi Minamino

What's his favoured position and where might he fit in alongside Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino?

"There are so many kind of opinions [on his best position], even in Japan.
"His first choice is the same as Firmino. He can chase for the ball, and also has technical skills. But of course, Bobby is world best player, so Minamino is not same level, but he can also move as a winger. That's why I think [he has] some ability to bring more tactics [options] to Liverpool.
"He recently played for Japan as a forward, it is more likely to play as substitute for front three. But he used to play as a midfielder in J-League, so he also has [the] ability to play alongside [Jordan] Henderson or Fabinho."

What are Minamino's strengths and best qualities? And what could Liverpool fans expect to see from him?

"He has both toughness and technique at the same time. [His] assist in the Asian Cup 2019 semi-finals (against Iran) is just one example.
"He concentrated on playing and provided a beautiful cross for his team mates and created a precious first goal for the Japan team. This kinds of play is what the Kop want to see, and Klopp also tends to love."

To all my Nihon-Jin Cousins. I'm mega happy. Watashi Wa Totemo Shiawaseda (sorry if that's wrong!) ;-)
