Much as I applaud the general sentiment, Reina *did* make several terrific saves to keep it level, and with the fragile mentality of our team just now, I don't think we'd have come back. So whilst we were marginally the better side in terms of general play, his comments aren't that crazy.
 
On reflection i'd say he was quite accurate.

Downing - World Class save
Agbonlahor - Should have scored but put it straight at Reina
Carew - Should have scored but headed wide (at yet ANOTHER unguarded post, when will Rafa learn??)

On the flip side, only Gerrard tested Friedel before Torres' winner.
 
So they tested reina twice and we tested Friedel twice (beating him once). We also had (another) stone wall pen waved away.

Sorry I have to go with the OP, MON is a fucking bug eyed twat.

Yep, count me in with that. Over the 90 the game was finely balanced and they were absolutely not more likely to win it than we were.
 
At least O'Neill didn't complain about refereeing decisions, which losing managers usually do.

I agree that he was watching the game through rose-tinted spectacles if he thought Villa deserved to win. Neither side deserved to win really - I think the playing conditions may have been a factor.

his is indeed, but losing like that at home at christmas in the 93rd minute.... bound to make you bitter. It was a fifty fifty match IMO but just out of honour we deserved the win for the wy the tried to play.

Anyway last time i checked Reina was one of our players and therefore if he plays well thats their tuff titty, fuck it i remember one season Schmeichel almost single handedly ensured that United won the league.

So to reflect on the above, that equates to one world class save, one easy save and one glaring miss. Easily cancelled out I would say by one world class save, one glaring miss ( Babel) and ONE GOAL.

I think he was right in terms of our keeper made much the better saves.

We played well but after 50 mins it only looked like one team would win it until the death.

Bottom line is we had to win and we did.

I don't think these are unfair comments. Losing managers will always have something to say and I would rather hear something like this than accusations of cheating or poor refereeing.

O'Neill might be a bit annoying but he is generally quite respectful towards Liverpool.

Personality aside I've always thought he's gotten the best out of the squads he's had and right now Liverpool could do with that.

Their defence is pretty mean too another thing we could do with. And maybe just maybe he could bring Young along with him.
