Whoever said Sturridge was grabbing his thigh was spot-on:

Daniel Sturridge is a doubt for England's midweek friendly with Brazil after picking up a thigh injury in the 2-2 draw at Manchester City.

The 23-year-old, who has just four senior caps, scored a brilliant goal at the Etihad Stadium to make it 1-1 in the first half but then picked up a knock. He remained on the pitch until he was substituted just before the final whistle but Rodgers is not optimistic about his chances of joining up with England.

"He got a knock just before half-time on his thigh and he wanted to give it a go in the second half," said the Reds boss.
"I think he will be a doubt for the game on Wednesday, which is unfortunate because he was terrific today.

We're getting better and better but keep getting let down by individual errors by the same culprits. The sooner we sit down in the Summer and sort it out, the better.

Yep, agree. Defo moving in the right direction, but Reina, Skrtel and Agger keep fucking up.

Just when we are solving our strikers problem we get ourselves a set of dud defenders

It's like golf, one day you get your tee shots spot on and can't putt, then when your putting improves you can't use your driver, at some point it all comes together, fingers crossed that will be from now, we have a great confidence boosting run-in.
Bellers did use the term we had arrived, I interpreted it as turning point, maybe arrived is better.
Regards

Hopefully we have arrived. And that we take the performance with us to the next game and the game after that. All we can do now is focus on the next three points ahead of us, and win them. What other teams does around us is out of our control.

The fixture list ahead is not to bad. We should be able to win most of those games. I am pretty sure we will see the odd setback as well, but this is a test for everyone involved, Rodgers included. If we get it right it might be very very close when we take on QPR in the last match. We have a massive game against the Swans just after the Euro league away. But besides that we should have time to build a real momentum.

I'll wait and see how we get on versus West brom, who gave us a hiding earlier, and Swansea before i'll give in to talk of turning points. We looked bright and were worth more than a point yesterday, Sturridge has settled really well and it's good to have our rightful fullbacks in place.

I still don't think we can catch up 9 points because we've been consistently inconsistent this season...... that aside.... yeah.... we looked fucking boss for large parts of that game.

I wouldn't go overboard in praising yesterday's performance because I don't think Man City is a good team. They have many, too many, great players, but they are a mediocre team, which was exposed for all of Europe to see by Borussia Dortmund and Ajax a few months ago. For all their flaws, Arsenal is a more coherent team than Man City and a more difficult opponent for us.

Good point re City, rurikbird. I agree that the sum there is smaller than its components and I think Mancini has a lot of the blame for this. don't rate him and I think they'd do much better with a better manager. They should have walked away with the title last season yet needed a miracle in added time of the final home game to win it, and they seem to have given up on winning it again this season.
That said, they still are a good team and very difficult to beat. We did very well yesterday, and we did very well for large part of the game at the Emirates.
The signs are good so let's hope we can maintain this good form and root those annoying individual errors which have cost us so dearly.

I think they not a good team, but they ARE difficult to beat because they have too many players capable of a moment of genius - like Aguero yesterday. We needed to kill them off and get them deflated, like Ajax and Dortmund were able to do. But when they are eager and really need the points, it's very hard to hold a one-goal lead against them. One good thing about the "buy-everything-that-moves" strategy employed by the City is even if the individual parts don't really mesh into a team, you still end up with a lot of match-winners in the side - Dzeko, Aguero, Silva, Yaya, Tevez, Kompany and Hart are all natural winners.

Yet City have lost 1 of the last 45 at home and are usually the dominant side.
We bossed them and should have won
It was a very good performance.

Sorry Rurik but that's just plain wrong. They, clearly, are a very good team.

They didn't win the PL by being mediocre, they didn't not concede a goal in the PL and FAC for 6 games before yesterday by being mediocre either. They have had some issues this season with scoring enough goals (leading to their CL exit) but they are still comfortably in the Top 2 team's in the country and to suggest Arsenal, the epitome of inconsistency, are a better team is way off base.

It seems it is the norm on here that if we lose we give ourselves a real good kicking and if we do well then it's because the other team isn't much kop or had an off day. I haven't seen any team this season dominate City as we did yesterday.

I'm not going to diss Pepe for that. Y'all know I think he's past his best but every other time he runs after a striker in that position nothing happens. It was one of the best goals you'll ever see.

And we were ace. Great game of footy, great performance, unfortunately hit by one of the best players in the world doing one of the best things he's ever done.

I'm sure fans of every team say this but we always seem to come up against players who score a wordly or put in unusual 10/10 performances. Didn't Garrido score some ridiculous free kick years back for City - I mean, what the fuck!

Yup, hard to disagree for that goal

By the way I watched it in a busy pub so you don't get on to the commentary and stuff, but I had a clear view in front of the TV and stuff... Well anyways in the first minute of the second half Lucas defenced something and I shit myself wondering if he had come on for Sturridge, as he'd hobbled off at the end of the first half. Turned out he'd been on all along. There was much agreement about the anonymity and then an argument about whether it's a good thing of not to not notice your DM.

In a perverse way it probably would have helped if Pepe had tried that move before. When Brucie was in goal the likes of Nicol and Lawro were so used to him doing something like that they'd bomb off to cover the area before anything happened. It was wildly rash of Reina but his defenders seemed very slow to react in a decisive manner.

I think to say it was not a great performance because it was only City is a bit bizarre, and is very unfair on the team.
We played well but showed that they are beatable, they will be runners up to United, they are hardly some mediocre team, regardless of how well the talents knit together.
They were the first goals they had conceded at home in eight weeks.
We were by some stretch the best team and were let down by two individual errors.

regards

Amen to that. We've also made a habit over the years of letting goals in from players who otherwise hardly (or never) score. Pallister got two against us in one game FFS.

Yep.Remember Cameron Jerome scoring a belter against us for Birmingham? I know he's a forward but he's never looked so dangerous since then!

That Kevin Lisbie hat-trick is all the more remarkable when you consider he did it while playing for Charlton against Huddersfield. Imagine how hard he must have hit those shots to get them to travel not only hundreds of miles, but through entire football leagues and Earth decades.
