To be honest I think conceding 5 goals with 11 men on the pitch would have been completely possible in this game - although without losing Mane we might have scored a couple. City were't even turning up the pressure for large parts of the game. In a way, it is good to get the calamity game out of the way against City away, as that is a game you wouldn't necessarily earmark points against. If we get out act together immediately, it doesn't need to be too catastrophic.
I don't think we would have conceded 5 goals with 11 men still on the pitch, although our defence is so fucking dreadful, anything is possible.
What's most concerning is that Klopp appears to have learnt fuck all, and has absolutely no clue what to do when Plan A - actually, there seems little point in labelling it "A" given there is no other plan - doesn't work. But that lack of options or having
any other way of playing football is something that most discerning fans have been discussing since he arrived.
There were many other areas of obvious concern:
1) Not buying another CB when VVD clearly wasn't coming is nothing short of gross negligence, given Matip and Lovren aren't good enough, and the Estonian Binman is one of the worst defenders in the entire league. Matip is sloppy and lackadaisical and is utterly hopeless in the air, but is - hilariously - probably our best CB.
And does any cunt think Mignolet or Karius are good enough? Apart from Klopp?
2) The lack of collective responsibility, and inability of any of the central midfielders to exert any influence, was utterly criminal. We know Wijnaldum is a fucking spineless shithouse, but what's Henderson excuse? He's supposed to be the captain. It was gutless and shameful how totally we capitulated. While it's no shame to lose to a team like City - they're a better side with better players - it was brutally obvious that De Bruyne was causing total chaos, but Klopp and his players simply allowed him to run amok and could do nothing about it. There was no sign that we were even trying to limit the damage.
3) The in-game management was retarded. Salah offered our only outlet with his pace, and Firmino was doing his useless flabby melt impression, so why was Salah taken off? Especially when the player who came on was the hapless disaster Oxlade-Chamberlain - did anyone want us to buy him? He's now conceded 9 goals in his last two games for Arsenal and Liverpool, which is as many as he's ever scored in his entire career! - who was predictably dreadful.
4) We've conceded 11 goals in 6 games so far this season. That's
2 per game. It's horribly clear that when we can't overrun the opposition and the "gegen fucking depressing" tactics don't work, we are simply FUCKED.
That sort of display cannot be ignored or put to one side as "just one of those days". It wasn't all about the red card and bad luck.
It was an early season fucking wake up call for Klopp and every one of his goofy acolytes.
