I think there's a lot to be said for that. I also think Can as one of a CB pairing is worth a go. I said it early last season, the lad has everything to play in that position...but as a pair in a back four, not a three or five.

As bad as Lovren was for the second, Skrtel does him no favours whatsoever. Skittle's defending for the third is also truly abysmal, just standing off to let him shoot and score.

Lovren is an easy scapegoat given his mistake but there's deeper problems with our defensive record, and he's definitely not the reason we have created fuck all chances.
