Watch Coates's defending for Totti's chance at the start of this video. First he plays Ashley Cole onside, then lets Totti shoot freely from 6 yards despite having plenty of time and knowing exactly where Totti was. Awful positioning.

It's incredible though. LFC have a live show starting at ten yet sky sports still announce it before us. 5 mins into the show we start talking about it. I know it doesn't matter much but it looks a bit shit. Great signing though
 
Finally. We are doing better this year at closing on our targets. Next year we work on doing it in less time for each target.
 
This is indeed the best signing of the summer and addresses one of our shortcomings from last season. Well done Brendan.
 
Terrific defender.

What age is he, 25? Really good centre-backs go until they're 33/34 these days, so if we've got an 8 year leader in the middle of our defence for 20M odd then it's a superb bit of business.

I know we all want shexy stepover signings, but good centre-backs win you league titles. The heart of our defence was what stopped us from winning the league last year, and improving that area was our biggest need this summer.

Love this guy's ability at the back. Not crash fucking hot on how we decided to leave Southampton, but couldn't be happier with the thought of this guy leading us for years to come.

He'll be captain after Gerrard's done.

Unless it all goes horribly wrong.

Let's start with a solid debut season wherein our back line visibly improves.
 
He looks REALLY happy to be here. I didn't really mind him coming out and saying how he wanted to join us .. I'd prefer a target who is so keen to join LFC he'll do anything to push it through than one who says "if it happens great but I have a contract with X and I'm very happy here".

Now get him out to the USA to gel with the lads !
 
Only seven more to go and we can field the entire Southampton team. Anyone who doesn't have a tenner on us losing against them on opening day is a madman. Nailed on.

I get the sense Agger won't be happy unless he's an automatic pick. So I expect he'll want out.
 
Great signing.

Lovren needs to be our ever present at the back with Sakho/Skrtel/Agger rotating if/when required. Top notch.
