Not agenda driven, but could have Mignolet done better with the ball floated into the box before the goal?

We got pretty lucky to get a draw last year, they were probably much more lucky to get a draw this year though.

We let them off the hook. We should have gone for #2 but rather than doing that we sat back at 75 minutes and invited them to attack us. We are so shit at defending set pieces so what did we expect to happen.
It's a pity because we could and should have won this. But with no Suarez no Sturridge we lack that firepower of last season.

Please we were lucky to be one up, a goal from a free kick earned from a dive. 1 really good chance from open play. We are not that dangerous. If you can throw a wrench into our plans with one worldy than we didn't play well enough.

Could and ought to have won that, 3 or 4 nil. Balotelli is incredibly wasteful but I remember Suarez being equally profligate when he first came here. The defending is still awful and as last year, is likely to be our downfall once more.

What match are you talking about - the one where Allen should have put us up 3-1 and missed an open goal or the 4-0 win

People are nitpicking our performance today instead of calling this game for what it is - a fucking desperately unlucky result after totally controlling them from start to finish. Other than one free header Lukaku got after evading Lovren, they had the square root of fuck all chances. And then Jagielka scores the goal of his lifetime and maybe of the next 3 generations of the Jagielka family.

"But we're the ones who threw it away."

Mind fucking boggles.

I'm fucking fuming at dropping two points because we did nothing wrong all game. Fucking fuming.

We had a raft of good chances and should have buried them, there was only one team in that game and it was us, they got a last minute hit and hope effort in off the crossbar that no keeper could have saved and no team could have defended, thats just the way it goes sometimes. Its a sucker punch but on the whole that was much much better from us

Of course it's gutting to drop two points like that, but from all accounts we played well and battered them. If the performance was indeed that good, that's a big step in the right direction.

Nothing wrong?! We hardly created clear cut opportunities and scored from a wonder free kick.

Yeah I don't get it. After watching that game I'm scared Mario will never "get it". His movement to create chances is non existent. He's horrific in the box. Lallana, Henderson and Lovren were the only bright spots for me.

The one where Gerrard decided to fall asleep midway, Lukaku had about a half dozen golden chances, and Mignolet made 5+ great saves.

We didn't play well.

We started very well, full of purpose, and put them under tremendous pressure for about 30 mins or so, but then gradually drop off the pace, playing as if we're leading.

We let them back into the game and we blew our chances. The game was there for the taking but we blew it.

Typical shite.

Positives Include a wonderful performance from Lallana. Sterling was more hot than not. Coutinho was fucking boss when he came on. Gerrard played well (as I knew he would) Balotelli was pretty good albeit a bit wasteful. It'll happen for him. Based on the perfomance and not the result I am pretty ok with it. I can actually watch MOTD later at least.

Markavic...... Oh dear.....

For all those saying we were 'unlucky' -how many clear cut chances did we create? We're unlucky on the back of having loads of possession?

Serious?

Coutinho did his usual zero pressing, flick passes that don't come off, and zero goal threat.

Moving Lallana, a player who was continually pressing centrally through (including the last 5 minutes because Coutinho couldn't be arsed) cost us that goal as far as I'm concerned

I'm shocked to have such a different opinion from the Ledges on the site. Its unusual. But keeping in mind that this is a shit Everton team with a leaky defense that spent most of the game just trying to stay organized I can't help but feel they're wrong. Ho hum.

I think we're unlucky on the back of conceding a wonder-out-of-the-blue goal after playing well in the first half, having the lead at 65 minutes and nearly doubling our lead soon after.
Granted, not a great game by us, and many flaws to be addressed, as well as hoping this team gells in quickly.
