@TonyBarretTimes please tell me Liverpool are not actually trying to sign eto?

Tony Barrett @TonyBarretTimes
@RoZo_11 He's a possibility that they're looking at. It's no more than that at the moment.

@LFCZA: So James Pearce on LFCTV's Press Pass says he reckons #LFC won't sign Eto'o unless it gets to deadline day and we've not signed another fwd.

It makes sense he might be a fall back option, but as if he'd be sat around on the last day with his thumb up his arse, just on the off chance.

If he's a free agent the transfer window doesn't apply to him, but yeah, he's not going to wait around, especially when Ajax are wooing him.

I think the fact Chelsea settled on Drogba actually supports the notion that the market doesn't look good now in terms of striker supply. They certainly have the financial clout to spend on someone like Falcao or Cavani, but I think, like us, they were also keen not to overpay for some of these guys in this transfer window. I don't know where they stand currently on FFP (if it matters to them), but I'm not sure the next guy they bring in (if they do bring someone in) would be a big name. We'll see.

They play with one up top and Mourinho seems to like one main man.

Even they're not going to sign someone like Cavani for the bench.

So who would you like to get?
Reus, Cavani, Falcao, Schurrle, Lacazette, manly Reus though. Point is, I understand it's difficult to sign the right players, they might not want to come etc, but that doesn't mean we should sign the wrong players, I believe Lavezzi would be, I'd rather we kept our money to January. That said, if we've got no strikers lined up by the end of the window, i'd take Eto'o for a year.

When the same players will have the same answers. No one new is suddenly going to appear out of thin air. We have the money and we should get the player now (whoever it is), if anything happens to Studge then we've fucked as Lambert, whilst a good stand-in at certain times and for certain matches, is no full time replacement.

Firmino, Bony or start looking at high scoring strikers in smaller teams ; Beradi, Alan, Salihovic, Drmic etc. The top players have either turned us down or are out of our budget (salary-wise), the next tier are the Bonys and Remys and then the young stars of tomorrow or a gamble on a player being able to step up.

I'd rather keep our money than waste it on someone we don't need. Lavezzi wouldn't improve our striker situation, we don't need him.

All of the above strikers are not available to us bar possibly Reus who should be the main target. Lavezzi is by no means prolific and that won't suddenly change. Bony could do a job for us but I'm not convinced by him either. Lacazettew opted to stay at Lyon and Mourinho definately wont do business with us after we finished runners up. I actually liked the Schurrle option because he would have something to prove.
