Mourinho and Capello are the standout candidates. Not sure how likely either of them are, but those are the two you'd want.
Thats quite clearly the view most share on here I think Bunny.

You're obviously one of the posters who wants a change of manager, so what do we do if we can't land one of those 2 unlikely options?
Question for you Rafa4PM.

If Rafa (Benitez) were to walk away from Liverpool at the end of the season, say to the Juve job, without in any way being pushed, would you think any lesser of him?
Depends on his reasons i guess mate.

If he thought that the fans wanted him out, then no i wouldn't.

Other than the above being the case, then yes, i' think i'd lose a lot of the respect that i have for the man.
I wouldn't, mate. If he thinks that he's taken the club as far as he can, and that they need a change for that reason, my estimation of him would actually improve, due to him giving up a job he still wants for the club's sake.

Mexico? MEXICO?
Home of Enchiladas, Nachos, Burritos, Tacos, Quesquedilia, Fajita.
Plus the Cerveza is ace and then there's their fondness for a worm infested liquor.
Mexico is fucking ace.......shame there's no billionaires out there.

Fried shit in a variety of flour/ bread products.
Great.

And there are Mexican billionaires. But most of them run drug cartels.
So you don't like Mexican food but Borscht is a-ok?
Weirdo *does the finger spinny temple thing*
I don't know what Borscht is (cabbage?)
Worse (in my book anyway), beetroot.

As for Mexican food, I once went to a Tex-Mex place in the States where one of the dishes on the menu was actually called "vaca frita", which translates as "fried cow". I nearly ordered it just to see the plate size.

I'd get O'Neill or Rijkaard and put them on a one-year rolling contract. See what they can do, and if another, better manager becomes available, let them go without having to pay a huge sum in compensation. That may seem short-termist, but I honestly think we need a change of manager to avoid our players getting permanently stuck in this horrible rut they're in.
That would be a decent, short-term solution on our end. But would either of those managers agree to a one-year rolling contract? Of course not.
O'Neill is already on a one-year rolling contract - by choice. And I'm pretty sure Rijkaard would welcome the chance to swap Turkey for one of the biggest clubs in Europe, whatever the contract.

A Brit having a laugh at Mexican food......you have got to be kidding me.

Mexican food over shite British food, any day.

Luckily, we have quite a few world-class restaurants offering different cusines in London, so I don't need to eat Mexican food.
And GYAC quite a few of them offer "British" food.
And none of them offer Mexican food.

Next.

I don't see GB in there? Mexiacan is 6th on that list by the way.

I know its just a list that came out on top of the google search, but i'd wager British Cusine will not appear on most people's top ten.

Nice try....

I want 'good national cuisine' to be one of the key attributes for our next owners

So that's the Middle East out

And Greece

And Mexico

And I'd wager most people think ManUre are the most successful club in English football history. That's a distinctly dodgy criterion to try and use.

Maybe so JJ.

Personally i'd hope that he would want to fight on and make up for this seasons shiteness.

I can't help it mate, but i would feel let down if he left of his own accord (with no pressure from the owners).
Me too.

The threat of a Colombian necktie for any under performing players, would certainly help to motivate our boys.

well i really like mexican and greek food ??? ???

How about if Branson came in with a bid? would people be happy?

Is it only me that doesnt want to be owned by some millionaire who just throws his money around willy-nilly? I have zero respect for Chelsea and Man City for that exact reason.. It would feel somewhat bitter-sweet.

Id be happy with a few Brits taking over - getting rid of the debt and actually providing some much needed stability. Under Moors my major concern was that dorky shit tie wearing clown wannabe and now he has gone i miss the stability offered during Moore's time.. Purslow already looks to be getting some excellent sponsorship deals in and perhaps if Moores made that change earlier we would all be a happier bunch!

Mexican food in general might well be a bit dominated by floury bread crap, but I'm all about the jalapeno burger

Cheesy nachos are also pretty good.

Ta.
I do believe that Rafa, for all his failings, is a man of integrity. So, if he were leave to manage another club, just because he fancied more what was on offer there, then he would go down consideribly in my estimation too, not that he will be too devasted by that.

I'd prefer to split the role up and appoint Kenny Dalglish as Technical Director responsible for squad additions, the scouting network, the youth system etc.

Then have a coach to take the training, decide tactics, pick the matchday lineups etc and deal with the day to day football end of things.

Very few managers can do the whole job well on their own.
Has that system ever worked in England? And what makes you think Kenny would be any good as a technical director?
Probably not, but that's not to say it can't.

Primarily I'd like a technical director who can evaluate a player, I think Kenny can do that. He has immediate credibility in the role too.
He did an awesome job of that at Celtic.
And Benitez was wonderful at Real Valladolid and Osasuna

Lippi is quite old and has never managed in England.
Laudrup? With Carragher as assistant? Really?
Blanc could be decent but he has agreed to join Inter this summer.
Deschamps hasn't dome much, has he?
Benfica's manager has an awful hair style.
Very harsh I think. He is on the brink of taking Marseille back to the top after 17 yrs. Whilst Mouriho is the standout candidate, Deschamps and Blanc (who had epl experience) are good shouts.

After quiffing this 9 page thread, there is really only one inescapable conclusion: possibly only Mourhino and Capello are an improvement to what we already have (and that's just a matter of opinion really).
