Leicester Pre Match Thread (H)

I'm a bit lost on this from a squad point of view. It sounds like Gini & Trent are both 'maybes', and Gomez is out. Trent was in a knee brace on his Instagram post at the weekend so I would assume we play Fabinho at RB in this one.

I wonder whether we'll see something like the below with no other CM options?

-------------Alisson-------------
Fabs---Matip--VVD---Robbo
---------Hendo--Keita----------
-Shaq-----Bobby-------Mane--
--------------Salah----------------

Is Fabinho really the best option at right back? It just feels like we lose an awfult lot by not having him in the middle of the park.

Exactly, I'd rather play Camacho at RB and keep Fabinho at DM.
We must have learned something from the City game.

If Gini is available then Fabinho is the best option at RB. He plays there for Brazil, and we can go Hendo, Gini and Keita/Shaq in midfield.
Camacho should start if Gini is unavailable.

I reeeeeally would rather fabinho dictate play in the centre. His distribution is ridiculously important for us

I too would prefer Fabs in the centre, but i'd also be nervous about putting Camacho up against Demari Gray or whoever else they play on the left.

Yeah, can understand that, I'm equally as worried about maddison as well though

Choudhury is the lad we want should be worried about, & the main reason I'd like Fabinho in midfield. Despite his performance going under the radar, he played brilliantly against Chelsea & Citeh, pulling their strings & working his arse off, & I fully expect him to get the nod against us. If we have Fabinho in midfield he'll have a lot more to worry about than if Gini is there alongside Hendo, which will open things up a bit more for us.

I'm a little worried about this match, cos these arent unlike Palace, in that they're better suited playing teams like us & playing on the counter than they are playing the lower placed clubs, so they could really give us a game.

I'd really like us to have an actual right back playing this match.

Maguire is currently a doubt which can only be a good thing. Even though Salah turned him inside out last season, I'd much rather he wasn't attacking us at set pieces.

Leicester are incredibly hot and cold, I think they could easily over expose themselves at the back and take a drubbing here.

Really? They don't often "over-expose themselves at the back", which is part of the reason Puel keeps getting slated for dull, conservative football and also why they've conceded less goals than anyone outside of the Top 4.

Admittedly i've only watched the Wolves game but they were often hit on the break and looked all over the place.

Yeah, that was a shambles. Every long ball caused panic and they misjudged bounces, the flight and almost everything else collectively and individually.

Be nice to see that sort of defending again

Maguire is fit according to Puel.

He's definitely a problem, but I thought he played deeper, meaning Gini/bobby can pressure him

He does. But he's REALLY good. Fabinho is great driving forwards, but I'd trust him all over the lad rather than Gini, & I'd like Firmino to be finding space further up of the two of them.

My preferred team:

------------------Allison
Rafa ----- Matip ---VD ---- Robbo
---------------- Fabinho
-------- Hendo ------ Keita
Salah ------ Firmino ----- Mane

Oh I got him in the middle for Wycombe too

Apparently VVD hasn't trained since the Dubai trip and is a concern .Fuck!
Didn't Klopp say yesterday that he has a bit of a cold, probably a reaction to getting back the UK winter weather, and that he should be fine for Wednesday?

What's this about Van Dijk bring a doubt for Leicester due to illness, hasn't trained!?
Him and Fabs both had some minor illness, food-related ? Sniffles ? Not sure but if we're desperate I'd put money on both starting.
