Leading us to the promised land?

I glad not everyone is unhappy about this.

The only thing that pisses me off is that no one's mentioned any agreement to buy him at the end of the loan.

He's a definite improvement on Aspas & Sterling & at 22 has some improving to do himself.

Moses would be a good signing, and more plausible than Mata. Hope we wrap this up quickly if we are interested. Wouldnt be surprised if Everton came in for him too.

Moses will be a good addition to our side. We must have the buy option though and use our funds for adding two more players.

BTW, Ryan and Dreambeliever are in agreement here. I wonder what that means...

At least I've fucking heard of this one and seen him play before.

Get him in - gives us money to spend on another attacker & a defender.

I think people have just gotta sit up and realise we haven't got any fucking money. All this bidding for players and then getting outbid at the last minute. Everton did it for years to bluff the fans. "Look at our ambition, we've just bid 26 mill for Willian. Oh no Chelsea have bid 32, never mind - maybe we will get the next one..."

There will be no 30 million player, no marquee signing. Unless Suarez goes. Get used to it. This is the level we are at now.

Those Downing/Carroll deals have set us back light years.

I'd take Moses yep, I think he's decent and as said above, we won't get much better.

I thought Chelsea got themselves a bargain (at 9m) when they signed Moses. He'd made the transition to premiership football seamlessly (having looked a potential star for Palace) and was the standout performer for a struggling Wigan side.

He's then had the Sturridge treatment at Chelsea in a side full of star names - and yet not looked out of place when getting chances in fits and starts for them.

He's 22, hungry, has obvious qualities and improvement still to come with regular starts in an attacking side.

What's not to like about a potential deal for him?

I dont agree mate. I think we definetly wanted Willian and were willing to pay 25-28 mill for him.
If we end the window without spending any money I'll agree with you.
Still think there will be a decent amount spent these last 8 days.

I'm hoping there will at least...

I think Moses would be a very welcome addition.

And he adds grit and steel to a rather not so gritty and steely squad.

Honestly mate, the only way I can see us spending a few quid is if Suarez goes.

This is our squad for the season now, like it or not.

+1 to that.

We've fooled a lot of people by making enquiries for players, but everybody is failing to realise we never had a bid accepted and never talked with any of the players.

Everything rests on Suarez going

Scores with about 1 in every 20 shots. He'll fit right in.

Ha. He was playing in a Wigan side that only scored 42 goals that season though. And the conversion rate of 43% (i.e. shots on target - goals) is higher than Suarez's 32% last season. 😛

So he misses the target a lot?

Those stats don't look great either way.

I'm sure he'd do ok for us, but I'm not sure I see the point in getting him to be honest. He's not enough of an improvement to bother, I'd be happier to just hold tight and hope the owners find a better player in January.

Paying 2 million just to loan him though? Plus his wages? If we like him enough and think he's good enough we should buy him, or the 2m can be seen as downpayment on whatever we're prepared to pay for him if we want him at the end of the season. A 2m deposit on an 8m deal....

I'd still much rather we offered 30m for Mata, but I know it is unlikely for all sorts of reasons.

Agree. Think the focus for this remaining week of the transfer window should be on strengthening the XI instead of strength in depth.

The point is, and imo that is a very good one too, that not only will he add much needed depths to our rather slim looking squad, he is also a rather risk free bet. A loan deal for a 22-year-old talented player, with an agreed buy-out clause are in some cases the best we can hope for.

He also seems to hold some attributes not many have in our squad these days, and same could be said for Cissokho - but I am sure he's mainly meant as competition for Enrique. Grit and steel. The fact he can play on either wing as well as the front man makes it even more sound.

I hope we get him.

I don't think we need the depth in his position though. We've a good few decent players that can play there. If he was a step up then yeah, but he's not really(I could be proven wrong). I think we'd be better off adding a bit of depth at CB or DM. If we're signing an attacking player, I want him to be a big improvement on the likes of Sterling, Aspas etc. Moses is at best, marginally better.

Does that make sense though mate? We've not spend a penny we haven't got back from transfers ... Are we that skint? or is FSG that scarred from Carroll?
